Always use Google backup for your phone. With a new phone all contacts, photos, audio, video and apps will be updated on your new phone
First, call your provider and tell them so that they will lock out your account.
They should also have your IMEI number on file, maybe there is a blacklist that it can be put on
After that chances are slim.
Was the phone password locked?

In the case of android phones, it is easy to launch the reset routine and wipe the phone.

IF u have IMEI no. then visit Sony Err care center with proof they can help u (they can track ur mobile where it is )
