Bernina 770qe auto thread cutter isn't working. I think it may be cutting only part way through the thread. Sometimes thread breaks at fabric if pull the fabric, mostly doesn't cut at all.

I cleaned the thread cutter already and oiled the machine. I've been using aurifil 50 weight thread; if I'm sewing something thick (like a quilt sandwich) the cutter definitely won't work. Sometimes (very rarely) it works if I'm just sewing two layers of cotton fabric.

Take a look at this site, perhaps it will help

SOURCE: Sewing thick fabric and machine won't send it through

Sergers are not really meant to sew very thick material. The blades have a maximum amount of range, or thickness that they can reach to cut. If you go outside that range, get ready for a big repair bill! You can break loopers and even the needle plate when you "push" a serger. My advise would be to use you sewing machine for the, "pounding" work. The type of material matters too, A thick Quilt like fabric can be sewn becatuse it's not dense material. A thinner harder denim could max out at 3 layers because of it"s hard finish. If the fabric you're sewing isn't dense like, you could just need new knives.

SOURCE: The needle thread on my bernina minimatic keeps breaking.

There is special thread for denim/jeans. It usually comes in shades of brown. It's a little heavier and might help with the breakage. You might also want to try a little less tension. I assume you already have a Schmetz denim needle?

SOURCE: pfaff quilt expression 4 It shreds

Are you using the right needles, size and type? Before, you wreck your material, take it in and have it serviced. I know everyone hates to pay for service, but if you like your machine it will be worth it to have it running at its peak. Just like a car, we spend tons on them but expect a sewing machine to never need anything. Remember, it is worth it.

HZL 210 Juki Excite How can I stop the automatic threader cutter from cutting my thread when I am straight stitching?

If your Juki HZL-210 Excite's automatic thread cutter is cutting your thread when you're trying to straight stitch, there are a few things you can check:
  1. Make sure you're using the correct presser foot: If the wrong presser foot is installed, it can activate the automatic thread cutter when you don't want it to. Ensure that you're using the appropriate presser foot for your straight stitch.
  2. Check your thread tension: An incorrect thread tension can also cause the automatic thread cutter to activate at the wrong time. Make sure your thread tension is properly set for the type of fabric you're using and the type of stitch you want to make.
  3. Clean the machine: Accumulated lint or debris can cause the automatic thread cutter to malfunction. Use a brush or compressed air to clean the machine, particularly around the thread cutter mechanism.
  4. Reset the machine: Turn off the machine and unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes reset the automatic thread cutter and resolve any issues.
If none of these solutions work, you may need to take your machine to a professional for servicing or repair.

Bernina 1630 keeps shearing off the needle thread resulting in a break and re-threading the needle.

Your machine may have a gouge (snag) somewhere in the thread path that is catching the thread and cutting it. You'll need to locate that area. You might wrap your finger with an old piece of hosiery, cheesecloth, or a fine knit fabric. The rough spot will catch the fabric as you run your finger around inside the machine. If the spot is small, it can be smoothed using a fine emery board or something similar. However, if it is large, the part may need to be replaced.

I have a Bernina 350 SE. Trouble with buttonholes: thread accumulates in lumps intermittently. Stitches become very small, fabric stops advancing, thread piles up.

Have you tried re-threading the top thread? Sometimes the stitches get small and pull tightly because the thread is looped around a guide or the thread spool. Just a thought as that happens frequently with my machine.

You need a new blade in the cutter. It is a simple repair job, but needs to go to the repairman for it to be done.

Thread breaking problem

The problem is that the nylon thread will actually cut into the race cover and create groove, it should be smooth. The only way to correct this is to replace this cover. I can not stress enough do NOT use nylon thread on your sewing machines, it will do permanent damage and cost you 100s of dollars in repairs.
I have 25 years experience working on these machines and have seen this happen time after time.
