After I dock Iphone 3G in JBL Stage II an error message opens

After I docked Iphone 3G in my JBL Stage II an error message appeared that "Iphone is not designed to work with this accessory and prompts me to switch to Airplane mode to avoid interference". This message now comes up sporadically whenever I unlock the phone or even when I plug my earphones into the Iphone. My speaker also doesn't play music anymore.

This problem persists even with version 3.0 installed and I've also tried to reboot my Iphone and re-sync with Itunes many times - but nothing helps.

Can anyone help to solve this irritable problem?

Check the iPhone's connector. There may be a pin problem that triggered the issue. iPod/iPhone connectors are known to have such problem.

You can also clean or use cotton bud to clear out any excess dirt in the connector. That may help.

Blame apple, they designed this iphone os in such a way that they get to decide what happens.

i cant use a dock i bought for mine (video out)

i had the same message
this issue (or in apples case "feature") is built in.

nothing can be done without extensive hacking

Have you tried not setting it to aeroplane mode ? If you cant put up with the error or if their are bigger issues, sad to say you would have to update you jbl stage to a model that supports your version of firmware or phone model

Nano not compatible with On Stage

It will actually work, however, you will not be able to dock the iPod® Nano into the JBL On Stage™. You can connect the audio in cable to the headphone jack of your iPod. That's the only way, hope this helps. Pls rate solution. Thanks!!

Compatibility issues iPhone 3G - JBL On Stage IIIp

hi there, believe it or not, apple has put a authentication chip into newer devices. It won't allow you to play music or display video on devices that are old. Apple wants you to go out and buy new accessories for the new stuff to make more money. My suggestion is to sell it on eBay and use the money to get a newer compatible dock with your iPhone.

I am thinking of getting and Ipod touch 3G. I have JBL on stage micro Speakers. I've charged a Ipod touch 2G, but I want a 3G! Please Help!

When the OnStage speakers first came out, the charger was not compatible with 3g iPods or iPhones. Newer speakers have an upgraded charger and will charge all current iPods/iPhones (up to and including iPhone 3Gs)

Bad news is that there's no way to upgrade an old OnStage.

You can test yours by trying an iPhone 3G (if you have a friend with one, for example) to see if you have the old or the new charging circuit.

Getting error message software not compatible with IPod

This compatibility issue is caused by the same change with the Apple Dock Connecter introduced with the iPhone 3G. Inside the iPod / iPhone Dock Connecter are 30 metal pins. Previous iPods and iPhones allowed for charging either over pins reserved for the USB connection or pins reserved for the obsolete Firewire connection.
While Apple apparently announced this upcoming change to manufactures of “Made for iPod” accessories back in 2005, Apple only formerly discontinued Firewire charging support with the most recent iPods. New iPods and iPhones can only charge via the USB pin.
As such, there is no way that a software update can fix this issue in the future; this is truly a modification in iPod hardware.

Compatability with 4th gen nano

I have had exactly the same problem having bought a JBL Radial Micro for my partner for Xmas for use with the Ipod Nano, i contacted JBL via their website and was advised to contact Harmen on 01707278100. I was advised that the new ipod nano (chromatic) would not charge on the JBL radial micro. They stated that this was due to Apple changing the charging pin in the new nano. I have since bought a JBL Stage III. I contacted Harmen before buying this and was advised that the Stage II would not work. Hope that this is of use.
