SOURCE: repairing electric razor
Questions,
What can be done to eliminate self-starting; slide switches which have become exremely sensitive to the touch and often times turn on when set down after use.
Slide switch covers no longer return to full "off" position. Ive had to use scotch tape to prevent them powering on when placed in suitcase, for example. Is this problem characteristic of Braun razors?
Can a nonprofessional open up casing to administer a very thorough cleaning? And where would one get an instructional schematic? Can one be obtained from Braun?
Thx!! Vince
SOURCE: I have a Norelco 6885XL electric razor that won't hold a charge.
It's easy - I replaced mine (Norelco 6885XL) with a soldering iron & batteries I found online. Here's one place that sells them:

As these are NiCd, I always drain them totally dead, then recharge, as this type of battery does suffer from the "memory effect".

You need to fill the based to the max solution line. There is not enough solution in the container.

It sounds like you need a new "head holder". These often wear out over time and fall apart. You will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below.

I think you just need a new battery. I used to take my shaver to a shaver repair place to have the battery changed. Then they moved so I tried a place that specialized in batteries (car batteries, toy batteries, etc). They also were able to repair it but for 1/4th of what I used to pay the shaver repair place.
