Problem with GE Digital Messenging System #29871

I have a problem with my GE Digital Messenging System. Often times it cuts off a recorded message well before the set timeframe, with no method of recovery. How can I prevent this from happening in the future, short of purchasing a new machine?

    Callers leaving messages either get cut off or the only audible part of their message is the beginning, then you can only hear the rest of the message far away in the background, if at all. This happens with EVERY message. I don't think we ever receive a complete, clear and audible message. Help!!

    GE answering machine limits received messages to anywhere from 5 to 13 seconds. Same problem as many owners have with this machine. Tried the solution of unplugging it for 10 minutes then plugging it back in. Now it doesn't record ANY received messages. This is a flawed machine. No assistance needed. I'm replacing it with my old tape machine.

    when you place a message on the machine it will record only 10 seconds and sometimes 30 seconds.how do i fix this?

    It does not record the incoming messages though it give like 15 seconds to leave message but at the end nothing is recorded

    Ditto for me. People keep telling me that they're leaving messages but that they get cut off. I don't have anything recorded so I don't even know they tried! VERY FRUSTRATING.

    My messages are going to voice mail and my machine says my
    mailbox is full. I delete my messages as I get them,so how does
    this happen. I had messages in voice mail as far back as February
    what happend? How do I clear my voice mail?

I called the support number in the manual. They said to try a power off and power on sequence. Unplug phone line and then power, wait 10 minutes, and replug phone then power. If that doesn't work they said it is defective. My machine still didn't work so I am replacing it.

Here is the manual. The Index is on page 23. I don't see Reset listed, but 'Erase All Messages', and everything else is listed.

Instruction Manual

GE Digital Messaging System ~ Voice/Time/Day stamp
1a] press and hold down STOP/set button and wait for promps.....
ie. press NEXT to change Day stamp and then SET to pick.
ie. press NEXT to change Hour and SET to pick.
ie. press NEXT to change Minute and SET to pick.
1b] press NEXT to pick 1minute allowance recording for recieving messages coming in, or 2 minutes or 3 minutes or 4 minutes. This machine only has 1/2 hour of recording time, so maybe you can 'tell' -record- that and let incoming callers know they have only minutes and machine will automatically shut off and cut them off [hang-up] on them.
2] press and hold down Greeting button and follow promps to change the answering machine voice promps to your own voice. Machine will automatically PLAY BACK your voice, if you don't like what you hear, press and hold down Greeting button again and try again.

Maybe your memory is full. If it's full, it won't save the messages.

GE Telephone answering machine will not work

I'm assuming this is a digital recorder and does not use a tape. Any chance the memory is full and you need to erase messages to free up space for new recordings?
