I have a Toshiba 42H81 purchased in 2002. The colors now separate and some wrap around...looks like 3-D. The repair quotes I am getting are outrageous (in my opinion...Best Buy wants $150 just to come out, another tops out at around $350). Please, we can't afford such nonsense. If someone hass a less expensive solution, it would truly be appreciated.
If you have any electronic soldering skills you can replace the convergence amp IC's which are part # STK 392-110. Buy the expensive IC's which are made by Sanyo and they last longer. You can buy these from www.encompassparts.com for about $30 each.
Buy some desoldering wick from radio shack to assist in removing the old IC's.
