Question about HP LaserJet Office Equipment & Supplies

HP Color LaserJet PRO M177fw stuck in initialization.

My HP Color LaserJet PRO M177fw is stuck in initialization. The printer starts to do the start up procedure, i can ear the parts moving but after a while everything stops and keeps saying in the screen "Initializing". I alredy atemp to do a reset and update firmware but the problem continues. Can someone help me please?

Well we can check and see if the printer is able to run an engine test. This is how you can run this test;

Turn the printer around so the back of the machine is facing you.
Remove the Engine etest button acess door. This is located in the bottom center of the back.
Push the botton once while the printer is on. The printer should print a page with colored horizontal lines.

If the printer is able to print this page there is a very good indication the problem revolves around the PCA formatter board.
The Firmware might be outdated and causing this problem. Worst case scenario the board might be faulty, in that case your better off buying a new machine, since the cost to replace the board will be higher than that to replace this machine.

Won't initialize or start

I would be happy to help you with your Officejet Pro 276dw. I understand from your description that is gets stuck in a loop and will not start or initialize.

Also, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector

Initializing

NVRAM Initialization:
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Press and hold down CANCEL (X) and Start Copy (button just below the X button) buttons at the same time while powering on printer. *Keep these buttons press while you power on the printer*
3. Continue to hold down buttons until the printer display reads PERMANENT STORAGE INIT.
4. Release the buttons when "PERMANENT STORAGE INIT" is displayed. Printer will return to Ready automatically.

Try this....power cycle the printer. When the memory count starts Press and hold the MENU button.
Release the MENU button when all 3 LEDS are lit.
Press the < button
The display will show INITIALIZE DISKS if you did the above correctly.
Press the green CHECK button and wait for the printer to come READY.
