SOURCE: Built-in DVD player
Are you trying to play DVD's you've made or copied yourself or new one's you buy from an actual distributor? Because sometimes self-ripped Cd's & DVD's won't play on a LOT of DVD players. Otherwise it's bad DVD player and you should go get it swapped out if it's not too late.

This is a long shot but, there may be a reset button on the back of the tv if not try unplugging it over night.

we connected the cable box to the coax connector while our philips dvd went into the HDMI1 connector, and we got both working fine and dandy

how hard could it be? Oooo your a total air head huh? its as simple as 1, 2, 3. plug in your power to your dvd player and the red goes to the red the yellow to the yello and the white to the white.. IDIOT!!!
