SOURCE: one of my usb ports on my dell 6400 is broken
The only way to replace the port is to replace the motherboard in the system.

yes,
the folowing advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.
Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000,
4040, 4050 and 6000t
i fix these and many other magellan
gps daily so when considering
my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.
assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and
your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while
its
plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below
this
is actually a very common problem with these magellan power
ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean
always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then
the factory port.
if your able to replace that power port
yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that
sells them for help.
due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im

Hello there
Many serial port pins use several of the pins but sometimes not all of them It depends upon how the serial port is
wired internally on which pins it uses.
But if yours indeed does not work you will have to have it replaced by a computer repair shop or sombody that is able to unsolder the old one from the board and have a new one resoldered one this generally costs about
100 dollars ok hope this helps

Firstly, you don't need to use capslock, it just feels like you're being shouted at ;)
Try rotating the sharget in the port, it may just be that it has a loose contact. If the port is broken to the extent that this doesn't work, then I'm afraid I don't think its not going to be simple to fix (if at all). I can't really help more than that from here, your best bet is to take it along to a computer dealer and let them have a look at it, they will be able to give you a definite answer as to whether it can be fixed at all.

you can, go to dell and do so.
you are lucky it has power cable inside.
it just unplugs.
but the PC must be dismantled.
and not wreck the very very fragile ribbon jacks. do you know now to do those?
all 3 types and not wreck them,
if not ask a tech, who knows.
why ask fixya and not DELL.com?
Dell made it and has service manual to read.

on many laptops the every parts must be removed.
then the MOBO last , inverted then that cable removed from the back side of the mobo.
page 79 shows 1 clue.
page 83 is BINGO.
