Keep your upholstered furniture looking fresh by vacuuming it regularly
with the upholstery tool attached to your vacuum's hose. Prevent the
fabric from fading (or at least delay this) by keeping your furniture
out of direct sunlight -- close blinds, shades or curtains when the sun
shines most directly through windows closest to the upholstery. And
remove stains by blotting them with a dry cleaning solvent. Before
steam cleaning your upholstered furniture, read the piece's cleaning
code label to determine whether or not it is safe to do so. Then rent
or buy a steam cleaner (also called an extractor) and follow the
directions below.
Rent a steam cleaner or purchase one; buy steam cleaner solution.
Step 2
Vacuum
the upholstery on the furniture you wish to steam clean; use the
upholstery attachment to most effectively **** up loose debris.
Step 3
Test
the steam-cleaner solution on the upholstery in an inconspicuous place
to ensure the color won't be steamed out or drastically altered.
Step 4
Attempt
to remove any stains with a stain removal or dry cleaning solution.
Follow the directions that come with the product you choose for the
best results, and allow the stain remover to dry before you begin steam
cleaning.
Step 5
Remove cushions and, if necessary, arm covers.
Step 6
Gently apply the steaming water and cleaning solution in straight lines across the upholstery one section at a time.
Step 7
Use the cleaning extension on the steam cleaner to **** up as much water as possible. The dirt will come out with the water.
Step 8
Clean
one side each cushion (then allow it to dry) before cleaning the other
side. If the cushions are permanently attached to the furniture, clean
them last.
Step 9
Allow the furniture to dry completely before repeating the steam-cleaning process or replacing the cushions.
You may wish to check and see if the leak is where the small water supply hose is plugged in to the cleaner base. That connecction supplies water from the product, to the spray end on the upholstery hose.
Furniture cleaning isn't a science: try out a few techniques before choosing the one that is right for your belongings. This step-by-step guide explains how to clean a sofa:
Before using any upholstery cleaning products, vacuum the sofa or chair first to remove as much surface dirt and dust as possible. Be sure to use the correct attachments to avoid damage to the material - a soft brush attachment is ideal.
Spot Clean. Using baby wipes or vinegar poured onto a strong microfiber cloth, apply to any obvious stains, wiping gently as you go. Remember to test the upholstery cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first.
Overall Clean. Using soapy water and a microfibre cloth, gently wipe your sofa with the solution, allowing it to soak into the fabric and tackle the dirt beneath the surface. You only want to use a very small amount of water - don't saturate the material.
Dry. Some people use a hairdryer to quickly dry a sofa, but allowing it to dry naturally is always the better option, if you have the time. To speed things up, open windows and allow the breeze to help with the drying process.

Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The attachment works on the suction from the Hoover Steam Vac and it’s either a straight suction tool or a revolving brush, check the front of the machine to see if the is a switch to turn on and odd, also before you attach the upholstery tool check the end of the hose for suction, it may be that your upholstery tool may be clogged or the brushes are not spinning and a part may be broken. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.hoover.comTelephone Contact our Customer Service Department at 1.330.499.9499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST Don – The Vac Man Go Ahead.Use Us.
