You will have to go into the roku settings and change the resolution to one that works with your tv
if your roku has rca jacks hook it to that temporally so you can see a picture on your tv to change the setting

SOURCE: Samsung HDMI issue

Have you try to replace your HDMI cable?I recommend you to pick up a good Monster HD700 HDMI cable from a local retail store like best buy or circuit city.In case it isn't the cable problem, you could return it.
However, when you are a using the HDMI cable,it is normally either have both picture and sound or nothing at all.Are you sure you didn't hook up the audio OUTPUT from your TV back to a receiver input?
Or even an optical output from the TV to the receiver?

SOURCE: LG 50inch Plasma received loud sound then went black

My friend's LG 50" plasma tv has the same problem and it cannot light up. The picture and sound are working fine. But the brightness is too low. It is purchased 2006 too and out of warranty. So I opeend up and found 9 capacitors 3300uF 10V on the power module at the middle of TV are popped. I am planing to replace all of them. They are available at digikey.com. I think this model's power module has design flaw. The cap rating may to low. 10V? Stay tune to see what happen after I change the all the caps.

My 50 inch plasma tv has black lines appear in picture

The issue could just be with the signal cable. Make sure the cable is not loose. Also try replacing the cable if you have an extra. If the lines disappear it could also just be an issue with the plasma, it may get worse over time, but don't worry about it for now.

Trying to connect my 50 inch 50PC3D plasma tv, to my playstation 3 using HDMI cable. The tv is giving me an invalid format, is there an explanation/solution to this?

The PS3 video resolution setting is too high for the TV to work, please see your PS3 user manual on how to lower the resolution to the native resolution of this TV.

Invalid format error when i hook up ps3 w hdmi but my 360 works fine with hdmi

Go into the video input menu and video settings menu in the main menu on your TV. Make sure the aspect ratio is 16:9. The Playstation may may be stuck on a 1080p resolution and would require a hard reset it to 720p. Usually flipping the power switch on the back of the machine will reset it.

I have a z50p3 I tried to hook a samsung 1600

Sorry, man I have the same problem, with the same tv and player. Did you ever get a solution? LG Service Tech came out and his LG bluray player worked, whereas my Samsung didn't hooked to the TV. (It would spordically work going thru my HK254 AVR.)

He said either 1) the Samsung player was defaulting to a format that the Zenith being 3 years old could not decode (eg. 1080P) or that I might need to change inputs several times to get it to sync up or 3) by an LG Bluray player.

He said the Zenith was old and that newer sets are built with circuitry to help navigate the handshake easier. He couldn't find any service bulletins on it, and the one I got from LG he said didn't exist.

Hdmi resolution problem

Check the settings for the HDMI on both your TV and Amp. Compare them to your brother's set up. See if that provides any clues.
Try replacing the HDMI cable too, it could be faulty.

Zenith Z42P3 "Invalid Format" message from upconverter DVD

Ran into the same problem with this DVD player and my LG tv. Try this:
Open the DVD tray, with the DVD tray open press the HDMI select button until the proper resolution for your tv is illuminated, put the DVD back in, close the tray and try again. Simple fix -- worked beautifully for me.

Good luck
