How do I determine the year of my pfaff 130 it appears to be very old

First, stop running the motor if the machine is not operating. Most likely the old oil has stuck things together. Continued operation of the motor in such condition could burn up the motor or break a gear.

It probably can be switched to a foot control. It's been done a lot for other machines. You may need to have an electrician do the wiring or even a sewing machine repair shop may be able to do it for you.

There are at least two Yahoo groups that deal with Pfaff sewing machines. You may want to check them out and possibly join as they are very helpful with Pfaff problems and questions.

I can only find manuals up to 91 and 130 and up. Perhaps you can look at the pictures on the manuals and see which one looks most like yours. Pfaff manuals are very difficult to find.

That machine does not have a chain in it. It does have 2 belts a motor belt and a timing belt. Bolth belts very rarely brake. What are the machine symptoms, it may not be a belt at all?

pull off your needle plate and clean your feed dogs in between. Also remove your bobbin case and check for any threasd or build up below or behind it.

A local sewing machine center will have your screw if not exactly they will have a similar size and pitch of the screw threads. 99% they will have something similar even though it's not the same brand.

To the very best of my knowledge (and I've been full time as a manager / owner in my family sewing machine sales / service business for almost 30 years (with many more part-time before that), I know of no "heavy material" feed dog that has been available for the Pfaff 130. Please keep in mind that the 130, while pretty heavy duty (especially compared to many of today's machines), was never manufactured or intended to be heavy duty in the sense of sewing heavy items such as uphaolstery fabrics (canvas, nagahide, etc.). It was produced with the intent of being a reliable household (non-commercial / industrial) machine with the purpose of sewing light-to-moderate heavy metrails. What exactaly are you trying to sew that leads you to the request of using "heavy material" feed dogs or that you feel Pfaff produced / manufactured such an item?
