Thermal cutoff is operating. There is excessive heat being generated on the heat sinks of the Amp. This happens when there is a shorted output transistor or a speaker load changing.

If you try and unplug it at least 12 to 24 hours and it does the same thing, then its time to take it in to the shop.

SOURCE: Marantz SR5200 receiver works only with remote not manually

Check for a stuck/jammed switch, press each switch if one doesn't make a normal click sound or it doesn't move at all that's your problem.
If that's not it check the owners manual for how to reset the receiver (not all manuals will tell you how to reset it) Another way to reset it is to short the memory cap, but that is better left to a tech.

SOURCE: MARANTZ sr5200 Left Speaker larger sound right speaker

If you are saying that the left side is LOUDER than the right it could be DC offset on the recording or it could be phasing issues.

I have a phsssst noise in the rear left channel of my Marantz SR5200 AV Amp which occurs when I turn amp on. You can also hear it on some music. It sounds like a connection problem but have checked cables.

Check the routing of the cables to make sure they avoid power sources and magnetic fields.

I have a buzzing sound when I use my track lights which have a fader, so I avoid using them while listening.

Receiver Sr5200 shut down in 5.1 mode

chances are you have the volume too loud and the speaker wires are crossed.
all speaker wires need to be with the positive on the right and negative on the left if you have them anywhichway than it will work on low volume and not a very good sound.
look closely at the wires and they should have a red or so color on one side or the wire jacket itself will have a round side and a flat side
