The control board should have designated terminals to land the protocol sensor wires. What do you have, any wiring diagrams, instructions.
The photocel is probably wired into wrong terminals

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that leftgete is not opening what can be the problem .."? The motor is working but is not lefting up.

Attempt to open manually. With the gate open use the remote to close. If the support pistons lose their gas pressure the gate will close automatically but not have the force to open Replace the gas piston on the passenger side.

If something is blocking the sensor will also prohibit the lift gate from opening.

Hope this helps?.

What could be wrong? Our Gemini gate motor works well for some time, but then all of a sudden just go backwards when it should close the gate. It just revers with each attempt to let it go forward till at...

You could have dirty photo cells or some obstruction that the photocells are picking up that triggers the safety mechanism to reopen the gate so that no one gets hurt.

Extreme weather conditions (heat and cold) can damage the electronics in the photo cells too.

Are the batteries low on the transmitter?

Typically, photo cells are (or should be) wired to the control board so that it will stop the gate or barrier during the closing cycle should there be a problem- and should fully open again- just like on automatic garage door openers; it's the exact same principal.

Gate light on even when gate is closed

Open gate and find where the wiring enters the gate (bottom of door) pull back the rubber insulator and check for broken wires or wires touching each other.

How do I fix the liftgate sensor on a 2005 nissan quest

I purchased a 2005 Quest that had same damage on the rear lift gate. If I crossed my eyes and pressed down on the magic spot 3% of the time I could get the door to close in a way the sensor would recognize so I didn't have the door open light turn on.

Too fix this problem I removed the interior panel from the lift gate which allows access to the the lock and some of the wires. almost directly behind the licence plate you have access to the inside the lift gate you should see 2 wires that appear to be going down the latch. I'm assuming one of these controls the power locks and the other is for the feedback sensor that tells the car the door is open.

on the drivers side of the opening that exposes the wires going down to the lock you will see there is a white connection for 1 of the 2 wires that is mounted to the inside of the lift-gate. All I did was squeeze and separate this connection and the car no longer recognizes the door is open.

I don't have an alarm so I don't know if this would mess up the alarm other than if someone broke in through the lift gate it wouldn't trigger the sensor.

I hope this helps

Liftgate will not stay open. When you push button it opens fully, but then immediately closes

HilAry when the lift gate goes to the open position does it make a grinding noise when it reaches the fully opened position and then closes, If so the gear driven assembly may have had a tooth broken on one of the gears and has striped out causing the gate to fall back down. If this is not the case meaning there is no grinding noises coming from the gate then you have a ecm module that operates the functions of the gear driven unit telling it when to stop and go down. If this is the problem you might want to take it to the dealership to program the new unit. I hope this helps.

Liftgate won't open automatically

To open the lift gate manually, use the door unlock switch located on the drivers door. This should unlock the lift gate as well. Go to the lift gate and lift the handle to open the rear gate.

Your power lift gate is computer controlled. Sometimes there will be a faulty input sensor or part that will show the incorrect data to the computer, therefore the computer will not go through its normal functions.
In most cases its the problem of lift gate latch assembly.

To get it tested and confirmed there is a troubleshoot guide provided by the service center. To perform this troubleshooting guide you will require a scan tool to diagnose the exact problem.

the troubleshooting procedure is as follows:---

Please use the following information below when diagnosing an inoperative lift gate. Disconnect the connector at the lift gate latch assembly. With the lift gate latch connector disconnected, the 3 signals for the ratchet, pawl, and the sector should be inactive on the scan tool.

Install a 3A fused jumper wire between each signal circuit terminal (for the pawl, sector, and ratchet) and the ground circuit terminal 2. Monitor the scan tool as each individual circuit is jumped to ground, the scan tool should read "active".

If either tests above fails, check the wiring for the signal circuits, low reference circuit, or try a power lift gate control module from a known good vehicle. If both tests above pass, monitor the internal switch inputs in the lift gate latch assembly for proper operation.

3. A) with the lift gate in the open position, the ratchet and the pawl should read "active" and the sector should read "inactive"

B) With the lift gate in the secondary latched position, the pawl should read "Inactive" and the ratchet and sector should read "active"

C) With the lift gate fully closed, the pawl, ratchet, and the sector should all read "inactive".

4.If one of the internal lift gate latch assembly switch inputs are not reading correctly in one of the positions above and the vehicles passes test 1 and 2 above. Replace the lift gate latch assembly.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

This should help you.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a 2007 yukon and the lift gate goes up about half way and returns to the closed position. What is going on?

try removing your shocks/struts for the lift gate. once removed, check to see if they fully extend in and out of the barrel. You may have bent shocks/struts. Also, check to see there is nothing preventing the lift-gate from opening such as a bolt or acorns between the spoiler and the roof...
