First to narrow down the problem.. does it still shut off whilst plugged into the charger? If so it is probably not the charging circuit or the battery.
My first inclination is to replace the battery. You can check ifixit.com or google to locate instructions on how to replace the battery

SOURCE: Battery not charging

how long has it been since the batt was purchased? usually batteries are considered consumable parts. meaning in due time, performance will degrade, laptop batteries should be good for 1-2 yrs, after that it battery hold will degrade. also check your ac adapter, try removing the batt, and turn the system on. if the system works without the batt. then it might be the batt itself thats having issues...

SOURCE: Motion Computing C5 Tablet PC won't power on

Hi! I do understand that you are having the problem on the laptop turning on. Try another option, turn off laptop, remove cables and battery, press and hold power button for 10 secs. Reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop. Then turn it on. If the laptop did not turned on, remove the power cable and turned on the laptop. If still didn't, remove the battery and insert the power cable. If still did not work then check if there lights flashed on the laptop when turning it on. If still does not, then you need to contact the pc manufacturer for repair and possible replacement. Otherwise, if there is light on the laptop, then there might be a problem either the battery or the power cable itself. If there is light on the laptop but no power cable, most likely the monitor did not work simply because the battery works due to the fact that there is light on the laptop. On the other hand if there is light when plugging in the power cable on the laptop, then you need to check and insert another battery if it works. Otherwise you need to replace the battery...

My tablet will not power on & shows no signs of charging

Lithium ION batteries are usually rechargeable. The use mode for these batteries is that there are a set number of recharges that equate to the life of the battery. Usually that life is approximately 1,000 charges.
If you use your battery to 50% then recharge, you can do this ~2,000 times. As the life of the battery is used up, the maximum charge lessens which means where you may have had 8 hours of play time when the battery was new, you will only have 6 hours as the battery life is used up.
In order for a Lithium ION battery to recharge there must be at least a small amount of charge left as a "seed" for that recharge. If you drain a L-ION battery down to zero, it may never recharge again or the max charge will be reduced to an insignificant amount of the original full charge. eg instead of 8 hours you may only get 15 minutes, or 5 minutes, or no minutes.
You are much better off recharging when 50% depleted than using it up til your product stops.
L-ION batteries cannot be repaired only replaced. Most cheap products using L-ION batteries cannot have their batteries replaced.

Does it hurt the core battery to operate my tablet when it is attached to the plugged in charger?

To some degree partial charging of a battery is not good! For ultimate charge holding and battery life you need to fully run out the battery and when charging let it get to 100% charge and then remove the charger, this is not always possible so as long as you do this on a regular basis you should extend the life of your battery!

Tablet won't charge

With your tablet unplugged, press and hold the Power button for around 30 seconds. Then place your tablet on the charger (preferably the home charger) and wait a couple minutes. Then press and hold the power button for around 30 seconds again. If this does not help, then the battery may be bad. Storing a lithium-ion battery should done with no less than 40% battery life left, otherwise the battery voltage or power can go below the safety net (li-ion batteries are not fully dead when your device tells you they are. Once the battery reaches below the safe level, the battery is no longer good or safe to use anymore).

Why so long when i'm charging my lenovo a1-07 ideapad

Frequent Charging Shortens Battery Life Frequent charging shortens the life span of a Lithium ion battery. Batteries should be charged only after they expend all their power. b> Switching Batteries Switching batteries helps preserve battery life: If a cell phone or computer user puts in a spare battery while separately charging the primary Lithium ion battery, that helps extend the life of both batteries. b> Removing Batteries Most laptops charge the battery when a user plugs in the AC adapter. Users can adjust this setting by changing the power options. Windows places this option in the Control Panel, while the Gnome Linux desktop places power options under "Administrative Tools". Cell phones incorporate their own power-saving features that the user usually cannot control. b> When to Replace a Lithium Ion Battery If a laptop battery does not hold a charge for more than a few minutes, a user must replace the Lithium ion battery if he wants to use the computer without an AC adapter. Other Ways to Extend Battery Life Storing a battery in a cool, dry environment causes a lithium-ion battery to last a little longer and reduces the frequency of needed battery replacements. Hope this helps.
