You have a defective light engine and Hitachi knows about it. You need to contact Hitachis customer RELATIONS department (not regular customer service) at 800-654-7013 and tell Hitachi what the TV is doing and that you have a bad light engine. Initially, they will act they have not heard of the problem but they will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area. Once you have the tech come out and they tell you that it's a bad light engine, call Hitachi back, at the 800 # I listed and tell them what the tech said. They will call the dealer directly and then Hitachi will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitach will cover the cost of the part (part cost around $1500)

Here's the kicker, if your TV is not still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part but you will have to pay the install. We recently had this happen to us and our install was $400...worth it to us on a $3600 TV thats only 3 years old.

Please deal only with Hitachi customer relations and DO NOT let any dealer or store where you purchased the TV tell you that you will have to pay the $1500 for the part. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are aware of it and they will send it out to the dealer your using and HITACHI will pay for the part...you only pay the install. Good Luck!

You may have a poor seated cable connector. Unplug TV from A/C, remove back look for a large black connector. It connects between the Main Digital Module and the Drive PWB. Re-insert both ends several times to make better contact, use contact cleaner if have but not always needed. Good Luck, big IRISH.

you need to contact hitachi because its a manufacturer defect...its called the light engine if im not mistaken that makes it turn funny colors...about 300 or better to get it fixed or call hitachi and whine and complain till they fix it...
