Need to find out year of golf cart but all i got is the serial number which is 370348

I have a 96 EZ GO gas golf cart with loose steering. What parts are normally needed to correct this problem and are special tools required for me to replace the parts.

Is the motor turning? Only one fuse and the starter will not turn if it is bad. If the motor is not turning, make sure the belt is not slipping. If it is not slipping, make sure the engine will turn by hand. MAKE SURE KEY IS OFF BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR HANDS IN. If it seems free, you either have a weak battery or the brushes in the starter have worn out. I change at least 20 sets of brushes a year on Club Cars.

When you removed the batteries, a certain procedure MUST be followed. Key switch off, switch to tow position and shift lever in reverse. You must wait until the beeper unit sound dies out then remove the wire from the most NEGATIVE cable. Place in Neutral before installing new batteries. There is a specific sequence to putting the batteries in an EZ-GO cart. Failure to follow this procedure will kill the controller. The Key switch must be off and the maintenance/tow switch MUST be in the tow position when connecting the batteries. Any of the above will cause the controller to fail, due to improper discharge of the PRE-Charge capacitors.
