It sounds like the power regulator popped, or a power final. Have a Certified Tech. Fix it.

SOURCE: no sound on sharp aquos LC32D6U

The problem is the silicone grease under the audio IC has melted and is shorting the audio circuit. To fix this, you'd have to clean the melted residue off the audio IC. It is a complicated job and I suggest calling your local Authorized Sharp service center to do this repair.

SOURCE: uniden bc145xl police scanner NO SOUND

It sounds like you have smoked the audio amplifier. It is an 8 pin IC marked "IC2" on the circuit board where it is mounted. You may also be able to see "TBA820M" stamped on the case of the IC itself. Since you said that smoke was visible from the speaker jack, it will likely be obvious which component it is once you open the scanner.

Unfortunately this scanner has no internal or external fuses.

If this does not work, go to www.mods.dk, as they have a downloadable schematic and troubleshooting manual for this model. The site does require a free registration, but does not spam or sell your address. I have downloaded several manuals from them over the years, and all were extremely helpful.

The link to the file you need is
http://www.mods.dk/downloadmanual.php?RefFil=BC-145XL_Alignment.zip&radio=

I hope this helps! Good luck!

SOURCE: Why can't I hear anything on the police radio

this can be for a few reasons. Make sure they did not switch frequencies or that the police frequency is still programmed in. To make sure you know your local codes you can goto a website such as these two website 1, website 2, where they may list the frequency needed. and last but most likely not the case is they do have private frequencies now that are encrypted with Motorola technology and requires a 8-16 digit passcode to hear the transmission. so if your trying to tune into a metro drug unit, or local swat this is the case most of the time.

If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the comment 4 thumbs up. thanks and have a great day.

Low volume controll

In recent years public service and all land mobile has moved to narrow band FM from the old 12.5khz or 5khz bandwidth FM to new 2.5 and 1.25 khz format.
The older scanners will play these transmissions with much lower volume and there is nothing that can be done to the scanner to solve this.
You can buy an amplified speaker and use that to further boost the audio or just replace the scanner with a new scanner built by Uniden or GRE (General Research Electronics) who make almost every scanner on the market. Both are good units.

I have a handheld Uniden scanner that is several years old. BC80XLT. My police channels went digital, but emt, fire, etc stayed the same . Do I have to buy a new scanner to get my police or can I get...

If your locals went digital they are probably using trunked systems as well. Sorry, but there is no way to convert or modify your scanner to let you monitor the new systems. You'll need to pick up a trunking/digital scanner such as the Uniden BCD996XT. Programming the trunked systems is a real task, so I recommend that you purchase the Butel ARC XT PRO software and a subscription to RadioReference.com. The combination will let you research the systems in your area, decide which ones you want to monitor, and download them straight to your scanner.

I have a uniden bearcat scanner and cant pick up my local police dept. I put the frequency in and still dont hear anything. I have a bc145xl 16 channel scanning radio and want to know if its compatible...

If you programmed the correct frequency, you should be getting reception. Check www.RadioReference.com to verify the frequency. Otherwise, you may be too far from the transmitter to receive signals. Try your scanner in other locations, check your antenna, and try receiving the PD on another scanner.

The MARCS - Ohio Multi-Agency Radio Communications system - is a Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink Trunking system that utilizes APCO-25 digital transmissions. Your BC145XL is not compatible with trunking or digital systems. In order to follow the MARCS you will need one of the following scanners:
GRE PSR-500, PSR-600
Radio Shack PRO-106, PRO-197, PRO-96, PRO-2096
Uniden BC250D, BC785D, BC296D, BC796D, BCD396T, BCD396T, BCD996T, BCD996XT, or the brand new HomePatrol-1

How can I receive the new digital signal that is sent out by my local police?

Sorry, but there is no APCO-25 (digital) card available for your scanner. Receiving the digital signals will require a digital scanner. Check out the Uniden Bearcat BCD996XT.

I cannot get any stations to come in on my scanner for police or fire and emergency frequency.

check the antenna connections first, does it scan but not stop? or does it stop but you hear nothing? If it stops and you hear nothing try the headphone jack and see if you can hear anything there, if so its the speaker or audio amplifier. if it scans but does not stop try removeing the antenna and putting it back on to see if it has a good connection.
