You can use place value to order decimals.
To put these numbers in order, first determine which is the least number.
Compare the ones place. They are all the same.
Compare the tenths place. 0.35 and 0.3 both have 3 in the tenths place.
Compare the hundredths place. 0.3 can also be written as 0.30.
0 ! 5 so 0.3 ! 0.35.
The numbers in order from least to greatest are 0.3, 0.35 and 0.55.
You can also use a number line to put the numbers in order.
The numbers become greater as you move to the right on the number line.
Therefore, since 0.55 is the farthest to the right, it is the greatest number.
0.35 is to the right of 0.3, so it is greater than 0.3.
The decimals in order from least to greatest are 0.3, 0.35, and 0.55.

  1. 0.2 0.05 0.25 0.1 0.15 0.3 0.35 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.45 0.55 0.65

What is the improper fraction of 2/10

I think you want to reduce the fraction to the lowest terms.

Improper fraction 1 3/4 produces an improper fraction of 7/4 (1 times denominator plus numerator)

To reduce a fraction, we need to divide the numerator (number on top) and the denominator (number on the bottom) by the greatest common factor (GCF).

To get the GCF, find the factors of the numerators and denominators and find the greatest number that is in both lists.

The factors of 2 are 1, 2.

The factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5, 10.

The greatest (largest) number is both lists is 2, so we divide the numerator and denominator by 2 and get 1/5.

Good luck,

Paul

Find largest number given three numbers in visual basic

enter a;
enter b;
enter c;
if a>=b and a>c
print "a is the greatest number"
then if b>=a and b>c
print "b is the greatest number"
then if a=b and a=c
print "a, b, c are equal"
if not print "c is the greatest number"

this is pseudocode.. or my drunken attempt to remember pseudocode... but I think the logic could work.

The Greatest Integer Function (int)

The greatest integer function (also called a step function) is actually a piecewise defined function with a special definition. The function has the notation f(x)=||x|| or f(x)=[[x]] when it is written, but the TI-83 and the TI-84 designate this function by using f(x)=int(x) and is found in the MATH NUM menu. This function is the greatest integer less than or equal to x. So, f(1)=1 and f(1.4)=1. Since this is a piece-wise function you should use DOT mode.
