These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

I don't know. It might just be really old? If you bought it like in 2000-2005, it might just be old. You probebly just need to get a new one. Don't feel bad. :3

Is the compressor again getting hot once you turn the temperature down? Will the refrigerator cool if you turn the temperature to as cold as it can get? Reason I ask is I am trying to decide if it is the thermostat or a defective staryt relay. Even at the cost of parts I would be careful and sure of what you are going to do here. Haier is not well know for quality products or customer support and there are other brands names out there that will support customers much better than Haier. Not trying to say bad things about your refrigerator I just hate to see when people invest into something and then get left holding something that Haier will not help with and does to all of their customer. Haier is actually the name of the company.
The central Haier building is in Qindao, PR China. Haier has headquater is in New York, USA, and an industrial park i Camden, USA. The CEO is Mr Zhang Ruinin. It is safe to say , based on that information, that Haier refrigerator is made by Haier.

I have a haier compact refrigerator ESR042PBB.I lost power and when power was restored the refrigerator didnt work.Th einterior light came back on but the refrigerator wont cool. I checked the back and the cooler is hot.I unplugged it and let it stay unplugged over night. The next day I plugged it back in and left it for 24hrs.It still doesnt work.
