Hi,

We had a similar problem. Do you have hard water or well water that you used to fill your pool? We have well water that we use for everything, drinking/bathing/etc., but it wasn't until we started the Intext Saltwater System that we noticed the dark green that turned to black color, horrible! I spent quite a bit of time researching this online, both on this site and a few others, and went to the pool store in town. It was determined that it was the metals in our water counteracting with the chlorine that the Saltwater System is making. We were able to buy a bottle of "metal out" from the pool store, costs about $20 but it worked!!! Biggest thing to remember is to change the filter, you'll be shocked at how brown and nasty your filter will look when you're done! It took about 24 hours to notice a difference and within a few days it was completely clear, like brand new water. Hope this helps, good luck!

Problem is test strips indicate high copper ion (pink) and total alkalinity is low (light tan) Free chlorine is ok (between 0.5 and 1) and ph is good. We have this greenish silt like stuff on the bottom...

1st.. Clean the green (algae) stuff out..
2nd. Clean the filter...
3rd.. Repeat step 1 and 2 until most all the algae is removed..
4rd.. Brush you pool with a pool brush to remove the remaning algae...
5th.. Seems like you have the right chlorine level but not running your filter long enough??? After all steps are completed, run you filter at 8 hrs and your chlorinator between 3 to 6 hrs until your pool clears up.. After that, vacuum again and clean your filter... During the summer months, 4hrs is not enough circulation.. Hope this works for you and good luck.. Please take the time to write a comment if this works for you...Thanks..

16 x 32 ft pool with saltwater generator. first pool. pools getting slimmy.

You are not running the unit long enough. Run your pump for 12 hrs and 10 to 11 hrs of chlorinator. Before you do this... Clean your pool and get the slimmy stuff out... Start with a clean filter and run the cycle i just stated. You should see results within 2 to 3 days...
Hope this helps......

Just purchased and installed Intex salt water system. It shows low flow and now, after 5 days of installment, the water is completely green (expecting Swam Thing to come out!) I need your guidance to...

Seems like you may not have the pump and the salt chlorinator in sync... If your water is dark green and not a big pool, you may want to drain and refill, if you have a large pool, you may want to shock and then try the following...
1.Make sure you have added the correct amount of salt...
2.Set your timer for your pump for 12 hrs.
3.Wait 15 minutes and then turn on your intex salt water system..
4.Set you hrs of operation on your salt water system for 10 to 11 hrs...
5.After running the system for 3 days, check your chlorine level..

If water clears and chlorine level is high, adjust the time.. You will have to re-sync the pump and chlorinator.. If the pump turns off before the chlorinator finishes it's cycle, you will get a "LOW FLOW" alarm..
I hope this helps and good luck.. Please rate and comment on the information provided.

My pool water has turned green in 2 days. I have an Intex pool with a saltwater system. How do I get it back to normal? I am new to the pool thing so you may need to put the awnser in laymans terms.

As long as you have the correct amount of salt and the electrolytic cell (The thing that makes the chlorine) , run the pump at 12 hrs with the chlorinatior at 10 to 11 hrs in between those 12 hrs for one full week and you will see results. Also, vacuum and clean your pool now before you start the 12 hrs cycles.

I have a 15x 42" intex metal frame pool an i also

Most likely you are not. The manual is very conservative!!! I have a 14000 gallon pool and I run my intex salt system during the summer at 10 to 12 hrs pump and 8 to 10 hrs chlorination in between those 12 hrs and my pool stays very clear. But..... If you don't clean the unit and let it alarm for low flow, low salt or not run the unit log enough, you WILL HAVE GREEN WATER!!!
Hope this helps, If it does, please rate the tip!

Recently installed Intex saltwater system, all of a sudden, have green forming around walls of pool. All levels look okay; except chlorine is a little low and PH is very high...I ran the boost cycle last...

Once you get the "Green" stuff on the walls, you must brush it off.. and one boost cycle will not do.... Make sure you have the correct salt level!!! Keep in mind..big pools can take up to 350 lbs of salt... Now...set you pump at 12 hrs and you chlorinator at 10 hrs between those 12 hrs.. Run this cycle and you should see results within 2 to 3 days... Clean you filter and rinse your electrolytic cell after 3 days because you will have dead algae. After the water turns clear, you can then lower your cycle to 10 pump and 8 chlorinate.. Good luck! hope this helps!

We have a Krystal Clear Saltwater System Model CS8110. We are first time pool buyers. We set up the pool last week and despite several "boosts" the chlorine level is very low. The pool store...

You should always follow the instructions on the manual .. I have a 18X33X4 oval and had to start with over 350 lbs of salt and ran the pump without the chlorinator for 24 hours to properly disolve the salt. Then, I started with 12 hrs pump cycle with 10 hrs of chlorination in between the 12 hrs. Keep checking the chlorine level and adjust time from there. Currently at temperatures of 85 to 100, I run the system at 10 hrs pump with 8 hrs chrlorinator and water is Crystal Clear... In the 2 years with the intex system, I have not added any chemicals to my pool. I once had an issue when the water level went low while I was on vacation, when I came back, the chrolinator had turned off due to low flow and my pool water was green.. As soon as I re-started the cycle, a few days later, Crystal Clear again... NO CHEMICALS OR SHOCK added.... Hope this helps....

My water was crystal clear when delivered. I added the salt, ran the filter pump for 24 hrs as instructed. Turned on my Intex saltwater pump and within an hour water is green. Cannot find anything on...

I am not impressed at all with these salt water chlorinators.Shock the water and keep the filter running next day add a powdered chlorine.filter still running. check the balance with test strip in about four hours. If chlorine level is good start vacuming the algee off the bottom of the pool. Now throw away the salt generator and stay with the chlorine packs every week to two weeks continue to monitor with test strips
