SOURCE: brewing stops mid cycle
Sounds like dosage is too high and grind is too fine.
Rule of thumb with any saeco unit.
Do not grind any finer then 2 or your looking for trouble.
Open grinder, clean it out with a vac. Slapped it back on.
The reason it stops is grind is too fine, and the machine doesn't have enough pressure to pass threw the grinds, creates back pressure in the machine and the unit failsafes after a certain amount of time with and pressure.
Back pressure is what blew your boiler.

OH Yeah!
That is the number one failure in these machines. (owned four of them)
The problem is one or both of the "twin" thermal fuses or the thermostat for water
heating and hotplate,( one in the same) has gone open. I have tried for a long time to locate correct replacement parts to no avail. I would STRONGLY not recommend trying to bypass as these are not only controls but a safety feature as well. I was lucky a wile back and found one without a carafe at a garage sale. used it for parts, now those have failed also. Really miss them. If I ever find a source for parts I will post it here with replacement procedure.
