Sansa Clip MP3 player does not show up on the computer. The computer recognizes a USB Mass Storage device but does not provide a drive or letter for me to download music to.

IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!

Sandisk Tech support had me do the following:

- Turn it OFF
- Put it in the HOLD position
- HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.

He also had me to:

- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.

If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP.
GOOD LUCK

Just return that mp3 player to Besy Buy. Dont even think of exchanging it for new one. I have tried 4 Sansa Clips, and none of them works.

Solution is: Just return your mp3 player.

Hello,

Restoring your player can be done in 2 main steps:
>>1. For updating the firmware, the player should be switched to MSC mode.
This could be done through the menu. When not knowing what the display shows, use the forcing method in next link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61/sno/0
See the Sansa Clip steps below:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
<<

>> 2. Once connected in MSC mode you can use the firmware updater when having Windows operating system, see next page:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/kw/firmware%20updater/r_id/101834
<<

For others who have MAC or Linux operating system you can not use the firmware updater: firmware should be manually downloaded from Sansa Forums and installed afterwards:

"No Music"

Either:
1)The licenses on the songs expired, which means you will have to update them through the music service that you acquired them from. (Not likely since the ripped songs are doing the same thing - although you could have inadvertently checked the option in Windows Media Player to add a DRM license to them).
Or:
2) Switch the USB Mode in the Settings menu of your Sansa clip to Auto-Detect or MTP.

Good luck!

hmm..that's weird. i would delete all the files i've imported onto my mp3 player and maybe restart my computer. if that doesn't work, check to make sure that the mp3 type is compatible with your sansa player.

hope this helps,
