You have to cut the cabbage into small enough pieces to easily slide into the chute. once you place it in the chute use the pusher to push it down. J.

In order for the processor to work, the bowl, lid AND pusher must all be in place - if one part is out of place, it will act dead. The proper assembly varies by model #. If you call Cuisinart at 1-800-726-0190, they are very good at getting you through the proper assembly.

With Cuisinart DLC 7E, how do you get it to start? I have not used this one is so many years and no longer have the manual. I cannot seem to engage the lid with the container part where the blade is.

Work bowl handle should face the front of the processor, and feed tube/pusher should face the back of the processor. If it is still not working, call Cuisinart at 1-800-726-0190 as they are very hepful in helping you through the assembly.

I don't recognize model #PLE-8E, but if you have a DLC-8E, while you can't get the original parts from Cuisinart, you can get a whole bowl/pusher/lid that will operate your old base. I also see a few auctions for the original DLC-8 series parts, but there is some asterisk by each of them - they will work, but they have a chip somewhere, etc. But, I would keep your eye on eBay - I picked up many a good Cuisinart item at a bargain price.

Removing a Cuisinart Food Processor Work Bowl
You have to remove the pusher first by twisting it off. Then press the sides of the pusher sleeve inward and slide the sleeve up and out of place. Then twist off the lid - all twisting on these food processors works either clockwise or counterlcokwise - not both. Then twist the work bowl to the left (clockwise). Voila!

The work bowl lid has a feed tube on it, and the unit should have also come with a "feed tube pusher," a plastic piece to help depress food through the feed tube itself.

With a food processor, you will want to assemble the unit first, engage, and then add ingredients. This will ensure the ingredients fall through the blade and/or disc to be processed thoroughly.
