My Goldstar mv-1515 Microwave oven also died. Not sure why. It just suddenly stopped working after a power outage.

I've checked the main breakers in the house and they've all been reset. Where are the fuses or circuit switches for the microwave. Also the microwave was installed before we moved in, and we can't tell where it plugs into the wall.

My MV1502B died, also after a power outage. I took the outside covers and control panel off of the microwave and found the fuse inside above the control panel. The fuse was good, so I took the wiring schematic out from hole in the back of the control panel and checked the circuits with a multimeter (and gave each electrical component a visual check) and found that the turntable motor has to work for the rest of the microwave to function, and that circuit is funky. Off to a repair shop it goes, I don't have the equipment to check IC chips or motors....I'll let you know how it turns out.

Our power went out and now the turn table barely turns and there is smoke or steam in the oven when used. this microwave is just over a year old. I would not recommend to any one.

Goldstar microwave

Open the cover and look for a fuse. If it's not blown then the power tube (klystron?) is probably fried.

GoldStar MH-1357M microwave

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:

Goldstar 1500m

The most common causes for this (in order) are a defective door switch, door switch mount, or a bad connection or relay on the control panel. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa:
