App/apk version doenloaded isn't compatible with your OS version.
Download a version lower than the one you previously downloaded until you get one that is compatible with your OS version

We have a sinotech smart TV, but unable to download the netflix app - it has downloaded but when we try to open it,it says 'problem parsing the package'....any ideas??

The file that you have downloaded MIGHT be corrupted. If you try to install the corrupted apps, you will get the parse error "There was a problem parsing the package". So, try again downloading the app completely and install it.

1st see if you can clear/remove/delete the corrupted netflix app file from wherever it saves it, temp, cache etc

If to complicated i suspect a factory reset OR just settings should clear it though it means setup time needed.

Is there a firmware update for the TV?

Good Luck

Have gone into my settings and fresh start and reset to original settings. I still get the same answer parse error

The "parse error" is because an app is built for a different (higher) Android system, rarely when the download was somehow corrupted.
Download an older version of the same APP which specifies that's compatible with your device OS version or lower.
Some apps are built only for "latest and greatest" android versions...

I was trying to install games from my app store on my tablet why did parse error appear

I would recommend restarting your tablet and trying to redownload the app. Usually a a parse error occurs when there is compiling error with the package (app's data).

Essentially it might not have downloaded correctly so restarting the whole process should skip it right along!

Parsing error

The error "There was a problem parsing the package" is related with incompatibility of the .apk file.If the .apk file is a backup of previous version of android then it is not compatible with the current version of android ICS OS.You can try to install apps from play store which are compatible with ICS.Also please try to check the following:
Go to Settings menu--------------->
Security-------------------------->
Device administration-------------->
Unknown sources----------------->
Check mark Unknown sources

Now try to install the .apk file.Hope it will help
