I have a Kirby G6 and I plugged it in and there is no power to the machine. I checked the power switch in both spots by the boot and the front by the head and still nothing. I tried a new cord and nothing still. Please help frustrated vac tech.

If cord is fine and switch also checks good , then check the carbon brushes. This will also stop the vacuum from starting.

Its been awhile since I pulled one of those apart but I had a similar issue with a G and the power switch assembly that sits beside the motor had failed. Its a modular piece that (if memory serves correctly) operates main power and the emptor safety switch. This was the issue with a machine I had in to service.

SOURCE: Kirby G6 no power

Could be the switch, I would check the cord 1st. It has 2 wires running thru it, one may be open. That power cord goes bad often, if anyone is pulling on the wire rather then the plug, then it would have have stretched and break.

SOURCE: Kirby G6 Power Switch Test ?

You can look at the wiring diagram and try to figure out how to use a circuit tester to test the switch but I would just suggest just swapping it for a good one (always good to have one good switch for testing) and see if it solves the problem.

SOURCE: Kirby G6 - won't power on

Check the cords two wires with an OHM meter for continuity replace if you get a reading showing OL The ground wire you can forget about this test
If any sort of numbers appear in the meters display the cord is good
Replace the switch instead

Why when I attached the screen cover to the motor like I have in the past onto my sentria vacuum. doesnt the motor fan turn, got any ideas

The vacuum bag's boot and the power head or hose with piece protruding from it must be hooked up or the motor will not start.

There is a switch on the bottom front that must be pushed in at the same time the slider switch where the bag's boot connects and turns must be slid to its max.

That is where it must be very clean for if that switch will not move the motor will not start.

Also, the electrical cords on that model were not a good make and one side only on the plug to the vacuum would always have no continuity.

I hope this helps!

My kirby G6 2000 no pwer

More than likely you have a short in your power cord. however if you want to know for sure take machine apart until you can put an elec meter on switch where cord is attached. plug machine in and test the end of cord that is attached to switch if you have 120volts at that point its your switch thats bad. if you have no voltage or anything less than 110volts at the switch replace cord

The kirby wont start no power

Start by checking to insure you're getting proper voltage through the cord. Make sure the bag emptor and front brush roll nozzle are installed properly as each must activate the switch for it to run. It could have a defective switch.

Plug in kirby vac to do the floors and it won't start.

It could be the power cord or even the switch. I suggest taking it to an authorized Kirby repairshop and have it looked at. It could be something as simple the power switch

Senteria power will not come on at all

Make sure the bag and the front nozzle are attached all the way. There is a safety switch on the bag and nozzle. If either one of these is not on all the way the machine will not come on.

There is a reset circuit near the cord inlet. Make sure that is not tripped as well. When you plug the machine in listen for a click. If you hear a click and no power then perhaps the circuit breaker is faulty or there is a short in the machine.

Kirby G6 won't turn on.

If the brushead is removed, there is a safety switch which prevent the machine from operating if the brushead is removed or not installed correctly.Either this switch or the main power switch could be the culprit,as well as the cord.

Could be the bearings, especially if the machine is old or the dust filters have not been replaced regularly.
Check to see if the noise is still present after the machine winds down when the power is turned off. A rattling sounds means bearings.
