If you cannot clear the display with the reset/clear button on the range control panel, go to your electric panel and trip the breaker for the range/oven for at least 2 minutes, then turn the breaker back on.

Sometimes when power is lost due to a storm outage, the drop in voltage can cause some of the electronics to act funny and "think" certain buttons were pushed. Simply turning off and back on the power at the panel should clear any minor problem.

If this doens't clear/resolve the problem, it is possible that the electronic controls were damaged and a replacement control module is needed.

Try the easy fix first and see if that helps.

My Maytag Gemini oven is displaying an F9-2 error code...I believe this has to do with the upper oven door lock mechanism...anything I can do, or does this require a service call?

F9-2 error code indicates:

  1. Door latch motor failure/jammed. Latch motor switch failure.
  2. Oven control software failure, or component failure(stuck relay).
  3. Wiring problem.
  • Press the clear key.
  • If the Clear key does not eliminate the problem, turn off the power to the range for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
  • It is most likely to have a failed or misaligned door lock switch.

Upon recovery from a power outage, the oven door on a Kenmore model #911455881C engaged the automatic door lock, and it will not release. I have cycled the power off and back on; have tried starting the...

I traced the problem to a faulty motor in the automatic door latch. In an effort to get the range operable again quickly, I removed the latch and got the door open. However since I just removed the latch and did not rotate the cam on the motor, the electronics did not "know" that the door latch was open, and therefore it still would not allow the oven to bake or broil. To remedy this I had to completely disassemble the motor and rotate the cam 180 degrees so the the sensors would recognize an open latch.

Kitchenaid gas/convection stove oven door locked & won't open

F5 - E7 Self clean latch will not unlock

Remedy:

1. If door latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to door switch, then from door switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Replace door switch.
  4. Re-apply power.
  5. Press and hold any key down for 1 minute to clear F5 failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
2. If door not latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Repeat steps A and B for door switch.
3. Measure door switch (door open = switch open small low voltage terminals). Replace switch if defective.
4. Measure latch switch (unlatch = switch open, CAUTION - oven light contacts are closed). Replace switch if defective.
5. If corrections are made in any step, reconnect power to control. Press and hold any key for 1 minute to clear R failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
6. If failure remains, disconnect power and replace control.

Note: Applies to all F5-E... codes.

F9 Code after power outage - Model JGR8855ADS

Try unplugging the oven from the electrical power. May release the lock, which is held in place by a tiny micro switch. If not and while the electric is still off or the oven is unplugged, use a bright light flashlight to look through the slot where the lock is in the oven, not in the door.

You may be able to use a thin blade screwdriver to move the lock to the release position. Check the angle of the lever. A slightly bent lever handle also can cause this type of condition.

If all else fails, remove the access panel on the front of the oven to access the locking device and release it. May have to disconnect the wires to the lock which will allow door to function but not during any self cleaning modes.

Oven display problem

F5-E1 is a fault code denoting a failed door lock/latch mechanism. Before having it replaced, go outside to you main breaker box and turn the power off to it for a couple of minutes... try to reset the controller. If the fault code appears again, the door lock/latch mechanism needs to be replaced.
