I have a problem with my Hunter Newburgh Type 2 ceiling fan.

The fan runs at low speed 24/7. For months, I have not been able to adjust the fan speed with the remote and now, the remote won't turn the light on or off either. How can I determine if the problem is located at the fan which is 20 ft up from the floor or is in the remote?

3-speed fan switch broke on Hunter model 28072, cat. 300 fan. Found replacement switch at Lowes, but wiring colors are completely different from manual. What color wires go into L, 1, 2, 3 positions...

My Hunter fan uses a Zing-Ear ZE-268S6 switch. This is NOT a standard switch! It connects L to 2 AND 3 for medium speed. It is best to order the exact switch if possible. Hunter wants to sell you the entire bottom assembly (probably expensive). I found the exact switch online at:

http://www.kenselectronics.com/lists/switches.htm#Pull%20chain

for $6.80 plus $4.95 shipping. I bought an extra which didn't increase the shipping - worked great. Hunter ZE-268S6 ceiling fan connection colors: L=black; 3=green; 1=grey; 2=brown. If you need a different switch on their page, just click the Edit menu, then Find, type your part number in the box, and click Next.

Hunter Ceiling fan lost medium speed, kept hi and low. Speed control capacitor melted. Replaced both capacitors (speed and start) AND switch. Still no medium speed. Is it possible part of the motor...

well, they could have. but before you throw it out, go to the hardware store, and buy a new pull switch. either that, or just run it with the high and low speeds. It shouldn't hurt it at all. But, if there is any clicking sounds, or wierd noises coming from it , DON'T USE IT!! it may catch fire. but it did last a long time. 20 years is good for a modern celing fan. though I like my antique 1907 westinghouse 72 inch 2 blade fan. It hasn't died yet!!!

Our hunter fan won't work on high speed any longer, low and medium speed work fine, when clicked on high - it only goes at medium

Sounds like the variable speed switch may be worn out.
You should be able to purchase replacement switch at the local home depot- type store in the electrical supplies.
Trying to get an exact match to replace may be a bit difficult, but a similar 3 speed switch should work just fine.

My hunter remote control ceiling fan doesn't go real fast. the highest speed is what a normal fan would do on medium. is there a fix?

if you have pull chain switches in addition to the remote control, your pull chain switch may be set to Medium, which would make the fan run on a maximum of medium speed.

Hunter ceiling fan-just installed -possible speed control problem

Sounds like the fan is defective. All internal wiring from the switch to the motor is factory installed. The fan has power going to it. Just to make sure, double check the wiring from the ceiling fixture to the fan.
Problem could be a faulty switch on the fan or faulty motor(bad winding for med. speed). Try reverse switch on the fan to operate the opposite direction and see if medium speed works. If medium does work in opposite direction, it pretty much points to a defective fan. In any case, unless you discover that the ceiling wires were reversed going into the fan, I'd say new fan to the returns dept.

Hunter ceiling speed.

A fan that old has a muilti speed capacitor. It could be that or the swicth. First thing to do is test the swicth with a voltage tester to see if power is switched to different posts if it does switch it is prob. the cap. Good luck trying to find one.
