Question about Hitachi Televison & Video
SOURCE: sound with black picture, some reflection w/flashlight on screen
The problem is that your TV's backlight has gone out. Without this light, the display still works but you can't see anything. It may be that the backlight lamp has failed. But a more common cause is failure of parts called capacitors in the set's power supply.
I've never worked on a Polaroid, so I can't point you toward any specific parts numbers or values. You may be able to find more detailed information by searching for your specific model and "backlight repair". Capacitors are cylindrical parts that vary in size depending on their value. When bad, they often have tops that are bulging (should be flat) or have split open, and sometimes there may be discolored areas at their bottoms from leakage. Replacing bad ones with parts of the same capacitance value (marked on the part in mf or uf, as in 330uf) and a slightly higher voltage rating often fixes the problem. (Not always, because other things can go wrong.) Capacitors also have a polarity, so you need to make sure the new part goes in the right way.
A TV service shop could check the set if you can't find more information or don't want to try it yourself.

SOURCE: we have a Hitachi 42hds69
Here is what you need to do to fix this. Call Hitachi Global Storage Technologies & request for the firmware upgrade.
1-800-HITACHI (448-2244)
They will send it to you for free. You get a small SD card that plugs into the back of your TV just below the Cable Card Slot. I wouldn'd have known it was there unless the instructions in the mail packet told me so.
To determine if you need to upgrade go Into the Setup Menu. Then, Go to Software Upgrades & look at the software version. I had 0110.xxxx. the version I upgraded to was 0125.0000 & it fixed the audio problem on 7-1 & 11-1.
now all channels work great.
THANKS HITACHI!!!
