Digital cameras eat batteries so make sure you have ones that are up to the task. The lifetime of rechargeables is measured in mAh and you want around 2000 mAh batteries for the task. Have you tried the batteries in another device like a torch to make sure they are ok?

I have this issue with one of the batteries in my set. (Purchased last summer). It is a PL-7522

It seams to be the battery, as I have tried combination of charging ports and controllers. The other battery seams fine.

15 min energizer charger cuts off after 5 seconds

Plug it into mains without battery.
Put the battery(s) into place. If batteries OK (but need charging) it will begin charging. If batteries very low it will cut off. If batteries charged it will charge only 1 - 10s.

Kodak Easy Share z712 IS not detecting charged battery

I have the exact same camera almost a year too. It is a total "swinka" on batteries. About 10-15 shots on super ni-cads, and quits without warning.

A pair of Energizer 7X gave me near 500 shots. Much cheaper but still ...

So 4 months ago I bought a charger and 2 rechargeables. Charge one while using the other one.
I may get 70-90 shots per charge on these lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, without flash.

Testing the batteries without a load doesn't really tell you anything.
What's the reading? Should be well over 4 volts when fully charged. Mine show 4.2V

Energizer CHDC charger suddenly not indicating if charging or not

It sounds like the PC Board which provides the circuitry for the Charger's indicating light is malfuntioning. If you have a DC volt-meter, you can check the Charger's output voltage, and then the Battery voltage to determine if your charger is functioning.

Hint: If the Charger has an output voltage, but the Battery's voltage is less than its rated voltage... it's time for a new battery.

Is my camera broke?

sounds like your battery or charger might be defective. I have this camera an when the battery is to low it flashes the screen.
I still use the original charger that came with it to charge the batteries, been thru 4 of those. It seems if they set a while without being charged the go bad.

Battery low all the time

Try Eneloop batteries from Sanyo. They have the higher voltage needed. AND that voltage doesn't sag under the initial startup load.
