SOURCE: Projector Reset

Hi Here is the info for you :: Caring For The Air Filter The air filter should be cleaned about every 100 hours. If the indicators or a message prompts you to clean the air filter, clean the air filter as soon as possible. If the soiling will not come off the air filter, or it becomes damaged, then it needs to be replaced. Please replace the air filter as soon as possible. memoWhen you replace the lamp, please replace also the air filter. Turn off the projector, and unplug the power cord. Allow the lamp bulb to cool for at least 45 minutes. Apply a vacuum cleaner to the top of the filter cover and the air filter to clean. If the soiling will not come off the air filter, or it becomes damaged, it needs to be replaced. If the air filter needs to be replaced, contact your dealer to prepare a new air filter. Tell the dealer your air filter type. Turn on the projector power, and reset the filter timer. (1) While the projector running, press the MENU button to open the menu. (2) Choose the ?OPTION? on the menu using the / button, then press the button or ENTER button. (3) Choose the ?FILTER TIME? using the / button, then press and hold theRESET button for 3 seconds. (4) Choose the ?RESET? using the button. memo Incorrectly resetting of the filter timer (resetting without replacement, or neglect of resetting after replacement) will result in incorrect message functions. Once the filter is replaced, plug the projector back in and make sure the projector is in standby mode.  Point the remote control at the projector and press the following buttons in order in less than 3 seconds: reset, ←, →, enter.  This worked for me.  Good luck.

SOURCE: Resetting the air filter timer

Hiya there, just worked out how to reset the filter timer so for those that need to know here's the solution;
Bring up the menu and go right the way down to "Option" where it shows you the lamp and filter hours.
Next highlight/select the filter timer section and while its on there hold the RESET button on the remote for 5 seconds.. this then pops up with a resert option and hey, 0h again, good as new! :-)
Oh and if you dont have a remote, just hold the right arrow button instead for 5 seconds in place of the reset and follow instructions as above!
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Omar.

Clean or replace the air-filter after every 100 hours of use to prevent overheating, which could damage the projector.
1 Make sure the projector is cool and the power cord is unplugged before beginning. 2 Vacuum the air-filter.

I have a PLV-Z1 about 5 yrs old, just replaced the bulb and it has continued to operate for about 10 minutes then turn off. You cannot turn it on again for hours. I have reset the buld life. What...

Hi,
It's possible that this problem is caused by overheating. There is a "Warning Temp" LED which should light if this is the case.

The following steps may help.
1) Ensure that there is ample ventilation around the projector, ie air vents are not blocked by walls, or have other heat sources nearby.
2) Ensure that the room temprature an humidity are not excessive.
3) Clean the air filters. Turn off the projector and disconnect the power. Turn over the projector and remove the air filter by pulling the latch upwards. It is located behind the leg nearest the lens side)/ Clean the air filter with a brush or wash out particles (it must be dry before reinserting). Replace the air filter, making sure it is fully reinserted. Clean the air intake vents (there are two of them near the air filter on the underside, nearer the back of the unit).

If the problem is caused by overheating these steps should help.

As switch power on the toshiba TLP791 projectorstatus of "on" and "lamp" light go to green to red after some time. Please assost us.

Does the unit light up? How mny hours are on the unit? most bulbs are rated for around 2000 hours some give warnings to clean the filters. Look in the menu and check the hours its been used.
Clean the filters, try and keep good ventelation to these because they get very hot and can overheat. They have sensors that will shut the unit down if they are overheating to avoid a fire.

Mitsubishi HC900 Projector shuts down after 5 minutes.

You have 1 of 2 possible problems.

(1) You need a new lamp.

(2) You have an overheating problem.

Just a quick couple of notes about your projector. It is a DLP projector (not LCD) and as such the machine as no air filters to clean. It does have air intake and air exhaust grilles, but no air filters to clean. This next part comes directly from the owner' manual for your projector:

When the lamp operation time exceeds 2000 hours*1 *2, the projector automatically shuts off and can’t be used until the lamp is replaced and the lamp operation time is reset.

Your machine is designed to give visual warning messages at 1500 hours used, and 1900 hours used. Did you see any visual warning about lamp life over the past few months?

If you were experiencing an overheating problem, a "TEMPERATURE!!" message would flash up on the screen just before the unit shuts down. If there is no warning, you don't have a heat problem.

If you have a replacement lamp available, install it and reset the lmap hours according to your user manual. If you don't have the manual, google it on the web (it available).

Warning lights

Just so you know guys (and this procedure is not for the faint hearted!). I had the slow one second red warning light flash. I checked the bulb, which was find and I left it powered off for 48 hours. My projector is no longer under warranty and would have cost me over £300 to have it looked at. I ventured inside to inspect the boards, once I removed the main board to check the power supply I heard movement from one of the light ducts. It took me a while to removed enough to discover the fixing screw which holds the imaging cube in place (which is between the 3 light ducts and the projector lens) had come out (!?) and was rolling around inside the unit. This would also explain why sometimes I could not focus my unit properly. I remounted the imaging cube, put the whole thing back together and PRESTO! My projector is working again.
