If the internal fuse is good, I would suspect an open thermal cutout on or near the magnetron inside.
If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
SOURCE: Where is the light bulb in an old Sharp Carousel Microwave?
Microwave_svc's site is awesome! I was able to get all the help I needed for a similar Sharp Carousel microwave. My bulb was simply loose in the socket base causing intermittent bulb lighting. Microwave_svc's helpful links got me to the service manual and, along with a nice set of "tamper-proof" screw compatible TORX bits I bought at HarborFreight, I was easily able to get cover off, remove bulb socket, tighten bulb, re-install bulb socket, button unit back up, and, voila, the light now works without intermittent blinking. There are replacable fuses inside. Taking the microwave apart requires removal of a lot of screws and the cover that can be rather bulky. make sure it's unplugged and safe before you begin. you can get replacement fuses at radio shack, ect. be sure to buy the same type and amperage. if the blow a second time there may be other issues.
SOURCE: my microwave oven keeps tripping the circuit
If a fuse inside had blown, that would definitely reduce the current flow rather than trip the breaker.
I have replaced several breakers over the years; they no longer last forever.
Try your Amana on a different circuit, not in the kitchen; if that other circuit likes the oven, the breaker is bad.
If the alternate circuit breaker also trips, then you have not a blown fuse in the Amana but rather a shorted component inside and repairing the oven will likely cost about the same as replacing it.
SOURCE: Wattage Sharp Microwave Ovens Carousel Model R-3A35
i just checked my R-3A36 manual to find out the wattage. it's 800 watts. i make pralines in my microwave. i am always asked for the recipe. so i needed to be able to tell people the wattage of my oven so they can adjust the recipe to their oven.

A 3 yr old sharp tripping breaker, My first thought with it being Sharp is either bad door switches or a shorted HV capacitor. When does it trip the breaker, when you open and close the door or when you push start to get it to start heating? If it is on the open or close of the door, think door switch issues. If it is when you push start. think HV circuit problem, shorted capacitor is common on the Sharps I have seen
