Makita LS1216L brake not working at all. New brushes put in two weeks ago and they are already shot too. Would this more likely be the armature or field or both or something else?

The brake on your mitersaw is an electric brake. When you release the power switch, the switch sends current to a brake coil in the motor's field. This reverses polarity to the motor and stops the armature from spinning. Good contact from the motor brushes is also important for this to work correctly.

The most common issues with a mitersaw brake are the brushes, part number,CB-154 , and the switch part number, 650618-3. It is less common but a damaged field can also make the brake not work correctly. It is part number 596356-2. https://www.ereplacementparts.com/makita-ls1216l-1234-dual-slide-compound-miter-saw-parts-c-97_98_99_40150.html

What is the common cause of not starting of makita generator g5500r

My guess and the most common complaint on fixya -
the gas was left in the engine from the last use and turned to gunk.
Drain the old gas. Clean the carb.
If it will run for a little after removing the air filter and putting a couple of quick squirts of starter fluid into the carb, it means the carb is gunked up and all the orifices need unstopping.

2 of my electric makita chainsaws have dime tip carving bars. chains keep coming extremely loose after only a few cuts. I spent as much time tightening the chains as carving.

chains that come loose that fast , and is not a cause of a weak bar bolt slipping , for sure is caused by improper oiling of chain and its overheating , heat makes metal expand so chain goes slack if it gets hot

Starts but onley runs for 30 seconds

yes this is a common symptom of a fuel delivery problem , most likely caused by a dirty fuel filter or dirty carburetor , but sometimes a bad fuel line as well (cracked)

I have a G5500R Makita Generator, It has been stored for sometime. I filled it with gas and discovered a leak coming from the left side of the Carb. it appears that there is either a missing screw or...

hi there
pauly46 here

sounds like you will need to remove carby and give a good clean and soak for a while
to remove to green gum / varnish causes blockage of passageways and fuel needle valves to stick and remain open / or closed as well as making it run funny if it runs and flood as you mention

note do not soak any longer than 20 to 30 mins in a carb type cleaner solution as these can attack
non metallic parts and runin them , use compressed air to clean passageways and jets

blow some brake cleaner through them to , if the unit still floods after this , replace the fuel needle valve and seat

What is the resistor value on a Makita 9029s 230mm grinder, and what is the resistor for?

Resistor? Do you perhaps mean the capasitor that is connected to the supply leads?

If, so this works as an electric noise suppressor. Commonly, it comes in the form of a small yellow square plastic item, with two pins. It is an ac-type capacitor, and the value can be found stamped to on the side. The value is normally given in micro-Farads ( ?F ) or even nano-Farads. The performance of your Makita will not be hurt by a defect capacitor, but it will potentially cause disturbances to tv, radios and may even violate local regulations regarding electric noise. The capacitor can be found as regular spare part from your Makita dealer or any online tool store.
