SOURCE: what is the walbro chain saw carburetor adjustment for a

There is no set adjustment on any chain saw. If it were that simple there would be no need for adjustments. The problem is that most equipment manufactured in the past 10 years can not be adjusted by the user. Carburetors are now equipped with either adjustment limiters which limit the adjustment to less than half a turn or with adjustment screws that require a special tool to make the adjustment. More than likely you will have to take it to an authorized dealer for those adjustments.

If you do have an adjustable carburetor, then gently close both needles and open each on 1 full turn. This should allow the engine to start and the final adjustments can be made at that point. If it still will not start then open each needle 1/8 to 1/4 turn and try again. If this still does not work then most likely your carburetor needs a good cleaning and a rebuild kit.

SOURCE: Walbro Carburetor on Briggs & Stratton Model 28R707

If the float don't float, the needle valve stays open and gas runs into crankcase.

If float floats (has no gas inside) then the needlel is probably worn and needs replacement.

SOURCE: How to adjust the fuel flow in a Walbro carburetor

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Make surethe small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

Jim

Poulan pro want start.has new coil. getting fire

If the spark is ok Fuel uel supply is next. The carburetors on these chain saws can really drive you crazy.
Before you touch the carburetor adjustments use some starting fluid directly squirted into the carburetor input with the choke on half choke. Pull several times. If the engine starts or tries to start the carburetor is the problem. Now you have 2 options. A) rebuild or B) replace. Here is the rub You will not find the correct L/H needle screw adjustments. (now restricted by the EPA) If the replacement carburetor is a Walbro go to the Walbro website
http://www.walbro.com/service-manuals/. Find your carburetor and download the info for your carburetor. Remember I told you not to touch the needle adjustments ok it's time now. assuming the are at the factory preset slowly turn each in and note the number of turns of each. This should be the setting of the replacement carburetor. If the settings were disturbed follow the guidelines in the Walbro service manual for your carburetor. Make ONLY !/8 turn adjustments at a time. Depending on your chainsaw model follow the manufacture starting instructions. I have found if it says pull 5 times on full choke then go to half choke and start do that. If you pull the plug and check It should be dry not wet if you pull with the choke on full and the plug our you should smell the fuel mixture. reinsert the plug and try starting again. Good Luck

What is the carb model # for zr05870, Its a Walbro carb?

From the pictures in the parts breakdown, this appears to be one of the newer model rotary-type carburetors. It is listed as part number 308028001. There is no mention of this machine in the Walbro carburetor application guide however. After viewing the picture and with the prefix of the carburetor known, you should be able to locate it on the Walbro website. I have the link to your machine's parts breakdown and to the Different Walbro models. Please view:
