I'm using Dragon Ver 10.1 and dictating inside microsoft word 2007. I"m running XP Pro with SP3. My computer keeps freezing ONLY when Dragon is running. Sometimes I load Dragon and before I even begin to dictate the computer freezes. If I don't open Dragon everything works fine. I have this problem on a new Dell 6500 laptop and a Toshiba Tecra A10 laptop. The error message is COMCTL32.DLL, ver 6.02900.5512; app Name explorer.exe.
When it happens my only way out is ctrl-alt-del as everything is frozen. I've contacted Dell tech support and Nuance tech support and noOne has been able to fix this problem. Nuance had me create a new user file; didnt solve the problem. Dell had me unloading almost all the startup and services items; didn't solve the problem.
Am baffled and don't know what else to do.

SP3 is the third and final service pack released for Microsoft Windows XP, and it eliminates many of the security holes that previously affected XP. While Microsoft recommends that users download SP3 using Windows Update, some users are unable to do so. However, it's easy to create a Windows XP SP3 installation CD; it requires only that you download the pack from the website and burn it to a CD-R/DVD-R using an ISO burner program. Download the SP3 installation ISO by visiting the first link listed in the "Resources" section of this article. Save it to your Desktop. Download ImgBurn and save it to your Desktop. Double-click the installation executable for ImgBurn and click "Next." Follow the remaining onscreen prompts and click "Finish" to complete installation of ImgBurn. Insert a blank CD-R/DVD-R into your DVD drive. Open ImgBurn by going to "Start," "Programs" and "ImgBurn." Click "File," then "Browse for a source file." Navigate to your Desktop and select the SP3 ISO file. Click "Open." Click the blue "ISO to CD" button located on the bottom left of ImgBurn. The program will begin creating the Windows XP SP3 installation CD. This process may take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to complete depending on the speed at which the CD-R/DVD-R is being burned. Click "OK" once the CD-R/DVD-R has finished burning. You've successfully created a Windows XP SP3 installation CD. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2fcde6ce-b5fb-4488-8c50-fe22559d164e&displaylang=en XP PRO SP3 ISO Download the iso also download the imageburn http://www.imgburn.com/ http://windows-xp-pro-startup-disk.soft32.com/http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389http://windows-xp-pro-startup-disk.soft32.com/free-download?gclid windows xp pro start up disc
Peter- Look at the top of your screen. You should see the Dragon command bar. Click on "mode" and select "dictation". Talk in a normal tone and pace and use commands such as "open quotes" and "close quotes". This should help with your issues.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 has not been tested to work with web based e-mail. It's also the same
thing with Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 regardless of any version. As a work around and fix for this, if you want to use it through on any web based e-mail is to use the Dictation box.
Here are the simple steps to access the Dictation box:
1.Make sure you have successfully loaded a working user profile.
2.On the dragon bar, go to tools and then go to "Dictation Box"
3.Here, you can start dictating e-mail messages and use the "Transfer" button to
transfer text in AOL E-mail.
I hope this solves your current problem.
you can use it with sp2. just make sure you have disabled any other sound cards on your computer in the hardware device manager. you can download the drivers and manual here...make sure you use the 7.13 version
I don't know why but some systems which have XP (SP1 or SP2) simply can't take the upgrade to SP3. Your system appears to be one of them. For instance our family's computer had XP SP2 and upon upgrading to SP3 we received a fatal crash while XP was loading into normal operating mode.
I managed to resolve the issue by booting to safe mode and restoring the system to a date before I installed SP3. Sorry that the new SP doesn't work for you.
