on my installation of Firefox, I just to show bookmarks - ctrl+shft+B - ans for example click on unsorted bookmarks, a list of bookmarks appears, and I click on the one I want to remove, and press the delete key on my computer, and it's gone, Click in red square at top right when you have finished to close the show bookmarks window.
The bookmarks bar contains all your bookmarks and bookmark folders created in Google Chrome. You can dock the bar directly underneath the address bar at the top of the browser window for easy access to your favorite sites.
Dock the bookmarks bar
Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
Select Bookmarks.
Select Always show bookmarks bar.
You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows and Chrome OS) and Command-Shift-B (Mac) to toggle the bar on and off.
Hide or undock the bookmarks bar
Right-click (or control-click on a Mac) the bookmarks bar and deselect Always show bookmarks bar. When the bookmarks bar is undocked, you can always find it at the top of the New Tab page.
Are you trying to remove the button for bookmarking or a bookmark itself?
The button is a permanent fixture to most browsers, however to delete a bookmark you need to use the "show all bookmarks" button or find the bookmarks manager in the menu at the top, which should have a bookmarks section, once there find the bookmark your looking for and simply right click and hit delete.
Open Safari by clicking on the Safari icon in your Application Dock. If you do not have Safari in your dock, click the Finder icon in your dock to open the Finder window. Click on the Applications icon in the far left column of you Finder window, and then double-click the Safari icon.

Identify the bookmarks you would like to keep and the ones you would like to delete. Safari has a bookmarks bar and a bookmarks pull-down tab. Delete bookmarks that are saved on your bookmark bar by hovering the arrow over the bookmark you want to delete. Press and hold the "Control" key and click your mouse pad. A pull-down menu will appear; highlight the "delete" option and click your mouse pad. The tab will now be deleted from your bookmark bar.

Delete bookmarks in the pull-down menu by clicking the Bookmark tab at the top of your screen. Select the first option called, "Show all bookmarks." Select the "Bookmarks Menu" option in the left hand column of the window that pops up. Hover the arrow over the bookmark you want to delete. Press and hold the "Control" key and click your mouse pad. A pull-down menu will appear; highlight the "delete" option and click your mouse pad. The tab will now be deleted from your bookmark bar.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup
