It seems these units only last about a year or two before this happens. Unless you can get it replaced under warranty (mine had 5 year warranty) you probably will be better off getting a new one. They leak their freon out and then just run, usually forming ice near the top of the unit in the front. Classic case of not enough refrigerant.

The unit turns out and runs fine. The fan blows. But the moisture is not being removed. I did insert a hose last fall and it worked fine then. Now it doesn't remove moisture with using the hose or...

You may have the humidity level set to high. If it's above 60%, that's what it's going to maintain, not remove. Set the humidity level on the lowest setting and try again. Whether you're using the hose or not, I don't suspect it's playing a role in it. Also, clean and reinstall the air intake filter.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Everything seems to run fine, just hasn't pulled a drop of water

remove the back airfilter, and touch the tubes while the unit is running, if nice and cold, all is well, there just isnt any moisture there. but if compressor is running and tubes are warm , means freon/coolant has leaked out

Dehumitifier wont condense water

This happened to me after the unit was turned on after being off all winter. I've had it just two years. After speaking with "support" I gather that it needs a new condenser, perhaps just because the freon may have escaped. It may be a sealed unit. Anyway, the math works out to simply discarding it and buying a new one. For me, this means not buying a DeLonghi. By the way, their service centers are strategically placed in remote areas to attract the fewest claims HD

My 2 year old dehumidifier does not remove adequate moisture as before

How much moisture a dehumidifier can remove from the air is directly related to temperature and dew point. Check the relative humidity in the space where it is located.

Friedrich dehumidifier

Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condensor coil. If frost accumulates on the condensor coil the frost guard turns the compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature must be higher than 65 degress. This temperature allows the moisture in the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without freezing up on the condensor coil. Also, if the humidity is too low, (below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the parameters in mind when you have this issue.

Thank you for your allowing me to advise you on this issue.
