SOURCE: HOW DO I LOOSEN A KEYLESS CHUCK TO REMOVE A DRILL

Keyless chucks normally have a knurled ring at the base of the chuck that you hold in one hand while turning the large knurled taper with the other. If the chuck has been overtightened, and you cant open like this, try using two stilson wrenches (Pipe wrenches) one on each of these parts. Use a soft cloth in the jaws to avoid damaging the knurling. You can also try some Q20 or similar into the chuck to help lubricate it.

SOURCE: Black and Decker Cordless Drill Chuck stuck in full open position

I'd put penetrating oil in it and tap the chuck with a plastic hammer. That should free it up.

SOURCE: black decker drill keyless chuck won.t open !

hold the back of the chuck with channel locks or a vice and use the same channel locks on the front and open the chuck manually it should work and you can get to the screw to replace it or the hand chuck. this can be a little frustrating but hang in there and you'll be a pro shortly.

SOURCE: relace keyless chuck

It really depends on the model. Here is a general description of how to remove most regular keyed and keyless chucks from corded and cordless drills:
Some chucks have a Left Handed screw that secures them to the spindle so they do not come loose. You can look into the chuck with a flashlight and see if there is a chuck screw. (It may be a torx head, flat head, or philips head) You will need to remove this screw first before doing anything else. Sometimes there is loc-tite applied to the screw so it may be stubborn and sometimes you will strip the screw head. Remeber that the old saying lefty-loosey, righty-tighty does not apply here. Left is actually tightening a left hand thread, so you want to turn it right to loosen. I know, it will feel weird but thats the way to loosen it. You may have to apply some heat to the screw in order to get that loc-tite to break. A pencil torch works great. If you strip the head out you will have to use a drill press and drill the screw head off.
After removing the screw you can remove the chuck.
To remove the chuck, the easiest way is to use a hex socket bit and an impact wrench. Put the hex bit in the chuck, and depending on the condition of the jaws, tighten the jaws as much as possible to the hex bit. Put the impact in reverse and bump it until the chuck is loosened. If you do not have access to an impact wrench you will need to put a hex key with a long arm into the chuck and tighten it then place the drill on the edge of your bench and give it a good whack with a 3lb hammer. It may not come off immediately so you may have to reset and do this a couple of times. Not the most effective way to remove a chuck, especially if one of the jaws is missing, but that is what most manufacturers tell you to do. I myself cut the collar off with a die grinder and then use a pipe wrench on the body of the chuck applying constant pressure while heating the chuck body with a torch. Works every time. Heat is our friend on stubborn chucks. Good luck, any questions please post.

How do I exchange bits in the keyless * BLACK & DECKER 12-Volt 3/8" Cordless Drill

In Black and Decker drills when the drill stops turning the chuck spindle locks automatically. All you have to do is grip the outer sleeve of the chuck and turn it anti clockwise to open it. Turn it clockwise to close it. When you press the trigger to start drilling the spindle unlocks automatically again.

I have had that same issue -- I just get a pair of channel locks and clamp onto the chuck ( not hard ) and run the drill forward -- this should close the teeth.

KEYLESS CHUCK WAS JAMMED WITHOUT DRILL BIT. I loosened it but now one of three teeth sticks out further than other two. How do I get them back in alignment? Black and Decker VP825 type 1.

You can't the teeth inside are either broke or it skipped. The easiest thing to do is buy a new key less chuck from your local home center and replace it a cheap one goes for about $9.99.

I have a Black & Decker 18V cordless drill with keyless chuck. The spot where the drill bit fits is in the open position stuck and won't turn in either position. What am I missing how to unlock it?

Look at the three jaws in the chuck,if on is further out than the others the you need to tap ti back into place with a small punch and a hammer. If this does not work then you need to replace the chuck, remove the screw at the bottom of the chuck[where you put the bit],then you will need to to clamp vise grip on the chuck and with it pointed away from you hit the vise grips with a hammer with a sharp blow downward and it should come off.Hope this helps.

3/8 " corded reverable drill. the jaws will not close around bit

If the jaws of the drill no longer works, then, the drill chuck must be replaced. Take it off by turning the chuck
counterclockwise, and putting an open wrench at its neck to lock it. Then, after taking it off, you can now have it replaced.
