Well, for the CSD-ED27 the sleep works like this:
1. press STOP/MEMORY and then also
2. press PREPEAT/FM MODE/OSC
3. your display will show 10
4. use the tuner - & + to good from OFF-90 mins
As to you CD player not playing:
it is sounds like the spinner might be not spin completely flat to the optical reader. This happen with my portable CD player, however at this time I do not have a fix for you. Good luck though.
SOURCE: NEED TO REPLACE POWER CORD FOR AN AIWA CSD-ED87 BUT CAN'T FIND IT
Try a local Goodwill store or any second-hand store. Seems they are popping up everywhere these days.
These stores have plenty of electronics and power cords and transformers. If you have a simple power cord like most boom boxes (no transformer) they are easy to find at these stores.
Otherwise, go to www.alliedelec.com
you will pay about 15 with shipping.

SOURCE: Hi, Can you tell me how
Aiwa has discontinued the original cord for this unit. However, Aiwa is Sony's entry level line. Most Sony cords used the style that was in the shape of an oval without any notches. If this is the case you can purchase the generic version through any national public distributor such as MCM.
