It's a soft lifting chain, wired rope or webbing applied to a specific load that is usually used by a crane or other lifting devices or equipments.

I cant figure out how to attach a sling to a remington model 870, 20 gauge. i think i have to buy a swivel thing that screws into the magazine cap, which enables one end of the sling to be attached, but...

Yankees, to get the correct cap you need to know if it has a spring loaded ball detent on the barrel loop that indexes against the cap. If so... here's the kit you need. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=43908/sku/ER_Rem__870__20_ga_
As for the **** stock: You'll be well advised when I tell you to take it to a gunsmith and have it drilled properly. It is very difficult to drill this hole for the sling swivel stud correctly, When I do these I mount the receiver and **** stock in my mill vise to get it perfectly centered and use a specialty stepped drill bit.

I want to make a sling shot

Hello, the slings that were used in those days were rather crudely made weapons. The sling itsself was usually eye shaped to hold the rocks that were being thrown, it was made of leather. The two chord on each side were made of twisted leather aproximately three feet long. You need to make two holes at each end of the sling. you fold one corner over to meet the opposing hole and you then tie the first piece of leather thong to it. Repeat the procedure for the opposite side and you have a working slingshot sling. I hope this helps.

Repair model 770 forward sling attachment broken

Take it to a gunsmith and have him repair it, he'll have to file down the original molded sling mount and install a metal sling swivel stud.
