I tried to vacuum an area rug, and it kind of rolled up, but did not get sucked into the vacuum, but now the rollers won't turn. Any suggestions. It is an OLD Electrolux 6500 SR series.

Is there a reset button?

Sometimes it is possible to use some hairspray. Spray the part of the belt that touches the roller. Let it get tacky before you try using it. Good luck.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Your problem may be solved as simply as pushing the small red reset button exposed on top of the power head when you tilt the arm back. Very simple. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Repair manual for Electrolux EPIC 6500 SR

I don't have a manual for these but the trickiest thing about these units is taking them apart. If you have an Aerus/Electrolux dealer near you, it's not a bad investment to have them install the motor for you. You would probably receive a warranty with the work, and the things a long time. Great return on investment. But if you are determined to do it yourself, open the front of the canister and remove the bag. As you are looking at the front of the unit, there are two vinyl coverd strips that run the length of the unit. Pull forward on these strips and then pull out so that the vinyl seperates from the plastic underneath. Now grab the plastic strip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull towards the front of the canister. These can be tough if the machine has never been opened up before, but pull as hard as you need to, to slide the strip out. Once both strips are out, turn the machine over, pull out on the sides of the bottom of the unit, and lift up. The bottom should come of relatively easily, and eveything will be exposed. Good Luck!!

Bissell proheat pet brush is spinning but loud noise and vibration at same time

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has not work properly. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Brush won't turn on my Panasonic MC-CB467

There should be a safety reset button. So like if you suck up a rug it will shut the power to the brush roll off, then reset it.

You will need to pull the roller out and clean it. I think some of the strings are tangle up at the end of this roller. (Most rollers will come apart at the end for cleaning.) Make sure that the strings are not tangle up on the belt pulley as well. I hope this will help you.

Is the Dyson pulling carpet fibers, not dirt ?

You need to shut the brush roll off. It is ruining your rugs, the dyson has a very aggressive roller and can hurt some types of rugs and carpets.

When I put the vacuum in position to use on rugs, it makes a horrible grinding noise like something is stuck.

Hi If the Dyson model you have has a protected brush model (i.e. roller wheel at the side that goes up automatically to turn off the brush roll) then the belt will have to be replaced by a Dyson engineer. If its not that model and doesn't have the brush roll stop function, check that the roller beater bar and the brush are properly aligned, also checking the main dust channel isn't clogged.

Hoover Windtunnel carpet level adjustment

The suction is so great that it sucks up your carpet, then nothing works. I get my children to stand on the corners/edges of the rug so that it stays perfectly flat on the floor while I vacuum. Or, you can turn off the brush roller (set it to "hard floor" setting). Or, tip the vacuum cleaner's front up slightly while vacuuming, to reduce suction.

Kirby g 5 head bounces when vacuuming and tech drive is engaged, does not do this everytime

first change the belt, even if it is not broken. also make sure that the height adjustment is raised up high enough, the higher the better ( when adjusting a vacuum you want the tips of the brush roller touching the tips of the carpet fibers ) also the same problem could occur on an area rug or any place the carpet is not securely held down ( the carpet can lift up and get sucked up into the vacuum )

Vacuum roller stops at half tilt.

You need a new belt. Belts will stretch to the point that they won't turn the brush roll under load, they will just slip. Check the brush when you change the belt to make sure the ends turn easily, if not, then replace it also.

Vacuum problem

I bought a dirtdevil 8 years ago and it's still going. As long as the motor works then you have check to see if the brushroller turns. If not then check the roller belt (take the cover apart some have screws or lock tabs on bottom panel near wheels) If the suction is low then check the vac bag, also with bag off, turn on the vac to check if air comes thru.If not the inside tube is clogged(plastic bags, small objects, ect.)Also when you open the bottom panel to check the roller belt, check the flex pipe that sucks up to the vac bag(unclogg it).
