Sony Clie PEG-NX80 Camera

The camera on my PEG-NX80 stopped working. The view screen shows nothing. Is there a way to fix the camera?

Same Problem here.Lots of Nx-80 have same camera problem.To solve the problem CCd module in this unit to be replaced.

Yeah, same problem. I just got this on e-bay 3 weeks ago. The camera was black and fuzzy. I upgraded to a 1 GB memory stick and suddenly it was better...for a couple of minutes. Now it is just black and fuzzy. Any idea on where to get this camera module and how difficult it is to replace it? Thanks.

My peg-nx 80 screen is blacked out. Also the hold/power button on the side is broken. I ried to by torx wrenches for the "star" shaped screws, but they do not fit. Does Sony have a soecial tool, in order to open up the device? Any suggestions?

I have a Sony CLIE PEG-NZ80. The camera's CCD (charge-coupled device) has gone bad; Sony was fixing the problem for free until October 2008, if I remember correctly. You can email them (go to their site) to see if I'm mistaken on the closing date for the free repairs, just in case.

Difficult to say, on some tis the mylar printed circuit cable goes bad. on some its the ccd imager, best thing to do would be to buy a new camera module for it and install, not a difficult procedure. but involved and the device is very static sensitive, so you should have full esd pro and a true earth ground. i can do this repair myself as i operate an ebay based pda refurb. [email protected] if youre interested, i might be able to scare up a camera module to sell, have to check my inventory....

I just replied your previous question that this problem occurs due to ccd imager chip failure that will be replaced to get live view in camera mode to take fresh pictures.
Local camera repair shop will replace it, let me know if you need part number of ccd imager chip of DSC-T33 camera.

This is due to failure of ccd imager chip in your camera, replace ccd imager chip to get live view in lcd to take fresh pictures.
Let me know if you need ccd imager chip part number.

Multimedia system error

You can perform full reset after backup your data. Full reset or Hard reset can be done by holding reset and power button together and releasing it after 10 seconds. It will come up with confirmation to erase all data to set it to factory default. Once you choose "Yes" it will be out of box state. It might fix the issue. For Memory card data loss you can use your PC to retrieve back by using application such as Active Undelete which can be found at www.active-undelete.com

Stopped working

I do not have a solution for you but if you cannot get it working I can use the case to repair my NX60, I think. I hope that you can get your unit fixed but if you cannot please let me know if you want to get rid of it. Desparate: Does Clie Backup or Archive Data On Itself? The adress book on my PC in Palm Desktop got corrupted evidently. (I didn't know this at first. I just noticed that a large number of records were gone (hundreds are now blank), however, there were still many valid records so I wasn't clear what happened. It seemed the more recent ones (last few months) were gone.) My Clie, however, had good data. Foolishly, I synched the desktop with my Clie the usual way hoping this would solve the problem, but the PC evidently overwrote the Clie and now the Clie has the hundreds of blank records too. The .bak file on the PC is now more or less identical to the .dat file since the hotsynch updated it. And the Clie file is bad. My only hope seems to be if there is a backup on the Clie? I'd try some sort of repair on the corrupt file except that I have a feeling it was caused by an aborted hotsynch and the blank records are toast. I also tried searching for strings in notepad and the missing records don't seem to be there. I'm desparate. Any suggestions? Thanks, Michael

NX80V - Camera only displays black So I found on 1src forums, at this link: http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95509 that Sony acknowledged a problem with the CCD on NZ90s and was replacing them free (but only until Oct 2007). I have both an NX80V, purchased myself, and an NZ90, given to me by a colleague. Both units have the same problem. Sony wants way too much money to repair either of them, so I am interested in a cheaper solution. It sounds like you repair these things or might even provide some know how on how to repair it myself (given I can obtain the correct replacement part). Are these viable alternatives? How much would you charge to repair the NX80V? Would you be willing to explain how to do it myself? Thanks for a reply. BTW, bre you located in Europe (as I am)? Best regards, Frank
