    Hey there,

When you say mylar tabs, are you meaning the orangey strips on the bottom of the ion bars? My machine makes a high pitched noise that I can hear (not everyone can though). I don't think those orangey strips or tabs are still on my ion bars.

Could this be my problem? I really hope so--I love my ionic breeze. I have an old Quadra model from about 2000.

    Thanks,

    Cade

I found that a good cleaning inside the unit stop's it from making noise.
My Mylar tabs broke off two years ago and that never made my IB Quadra make sounds.

You have to clean the posts where the two wires run inside the unit, top and bottom.

Also, clean the wire itself.
I used 1500 grit sand paper.

Think about it, why are there two beads inside on the wires?
They are there to clean each wire when you turn the unit upside down.
Any pointed object on the wire's will cause it to arc and flow to the plates.
Also, the wires do develop an oxide layer on itself as well.

Last, inside there is a pointed part on the bottom that sticks up.
Make sure that this point is super clean.

It worked for me.

NOTE: be careful when cleaning the inside, there still is voltage in the circuits.
Trust me, I got Zapped.
Work with One Hand Only When Touching The Circuit Board, Wires and Such.

Usually an indication of moisture in unit.
When I have this problem and I have had it in one unit or another,
I have 4. I clean mine with a slightly damp paper towel, and let it dry overnight out of the unit. you are also suppose to tip the unit over 3 times, upside down and upright everytime you clean it. I clean mine every 8 days. I have no pets or smokers either when I clean one I do all 4 units. Don't put into dishwasher it can melt bottom of dust catcher and not much luck since they went out of business finding replacment parts. good luck.

I had the same problem and found that the mylar on the tabs at the bottom of the plate assembly was damaged (torn). I was able to repair the part myself using mylar tape. This solved the sizzle problem. I

My ionic pro ca500 has the blue light on but also is making a intermittent sizzling sound, I have wiped the blades, the clean light is not on.

What does the blue light mean? I had 4 Ionic breeze air cleaners, ionizer wires are broken. I was thinking about buying the Ionic Pro cleaners, but have no input about how well they work.

My ionic breeze s1867 turns on and off will not stay on

I have the same problem and haven't been able to fix it. However, others have had the same problem and have posted their solutions. The sizzling sound is caused by electrical arching between the plates and one or both of the two tungsten wires that are run parallel to the plates (if you turn off all the lights and wait for your eyes to adjust to the dark before turning on the Ionic Breeze, it's a pretty cool light show!) Here are things found by others to cause the arching and what they did to fix the problem:
  • --dirt, lint, or tiny hairs stuck somewhere (usually towards the top or bottom of the plates or wire, and maybe in the grid contact points). Clean it better. Using canned air can help blow out the problem.
  • --water droplets. Make certain there is no moisture anywhere when you put the grid (plates) back in. Using canned air can help dry hard to reach areas.
  • --burn marks or melted plastic. These indicates a short circuit. Says dnewcombe1: "There is a feeler bracket that guides the two rear thin wires while the cartridge is being inserted. This "feeler" can melt and become disarranged." You can't fix this issue.
  • --build up on the ionizing wires. Clean them. It's hard. I took mine apart and used steel wool.

I own an Ionic Breeze Quadra unit. It has been working fine and I really like it because it removes bad odors from the house. Mine has just started making a hissing noise. Any suggestions? Thanks

hi,
Sparking, popping, hissing or crackling sounds coming from your Ionic Breeze air cleaner are all signals that it's time to clean your machine. Once you've cleaned the collection grids inside the Quadra, the disruptive sounds will disappear

how to clean

Turn off and unplug your Ionic Breeze Quadra.Grasp the horizontal handle on top of the air cleaning grids--this is in the very center top of your Ionic Breeze Quadra--and pull the grids straight up out of the casingWipe the metal grids down, inside and out along the entire length, with a clean damp cloth. You may need to use more than one cloth if the grids are very dirty.Go back over the grids with a clean dry cloth to remove any water and remaining dirtPut the grids aside on a clean, dry surface and grasp the body of the main Ionic Breeze casing unit in both hands.Flip the casing unit upside down, then right side up, five or six times. You should hear a small bead sliding back and forth as you do this. The bead is cleaning interior elements concealed in the casing; if you don't hear it, your unit may be in need of repair.Place the casing unit back on its base, orient the grids so that the handle slopes in the same direction as the top of the air purifier, then carefully slide them back down into the machine.

My ionic breeze turbo makesa sizzle sound all the time...its even worse after i clean it. i use compressed air to clean it very well to

Turn the ionic breeze off, unplug it, and turn it upside down. The wires on the bottom of the unit collect dust. There are beads on the wires to scrape that dust off. Turn the unit upside down, and then right side up gently 7 or 8 times and the noise should go away. Yu may need to do this once or twice a week and after cleaning the blades.
