Question about Nikon Speedlight SB-800 TTL Flash

1 Answer

Battery damage Does anybody have any ideas how could I fix my sb-800 flash. I was an idiot and I`ve forgotten to take out the batteries, and of course now the whole thing inside is corroded? Any home cooked ideas?: Help, help. I don`t have warranty on it anymore. Or how much would it cost to get it fixed? Thanks guys

Had exactly the same problem. Sent it to Nikon, received an estimate of $355. to repair or $320.+ taxes to trade for a new one. I think it's a scam. I believe they are selling refurbs back as new. I asked them to send it back unrepaired. I have just found someone who has offered to repair it for about $100. I will let you know how I make out. I sent it to him on Jan.2/08.

No choice but to send it back to Nikon. Same thing happened to me (note to self: NEVER NEVER NEVER use Costco/Kirkland brand batteries again). It ran about $90 to fix it. Cheaper than a new one, though.
