Toshiba 43H71 - remote sensor not working
The sensor is not the only fault that can cause the remote control to not work. The sensor is only one part of the circuits involved.
Between the sensor, there may be buffer amplifier stage, and then there is the main uPC.
What we do is send a remote IR data signal to the sensor, and on the circuit board in the set I follow the data signal along its path using a scope in reference to the service diagrams to see where the data loss is.
Personaly, I would not blindly buy a new sensor based on a guess without doing the proper tests.
