SOURCE: poulan 3400 chainsaw throttle trigger

Its a missing or broken spring in the handle(trigger). If you look inside the handle you should see a circular spring around the post of the trigger. This spring returns trigger to idle position. If its missing or broken the trigger won't spring back.

I don't think this has the detail you need.
If it were me I'd visit my friendly neighborhood Husky chainsaw seller (not Big Box Store) and ask to look at the clutch cover with the brake installed (take a camera). I'd probably ask for a quote for their repair too. HTH

Your model is no longer sold. The seller will know what model replaced it and may be willing to explain the repair procedure for your saw you. Take the cover and loose parts with you.

How do I reconnect ,my throttle trigger for ms 260

remove the top cover on the handle, there is a screw in the bottom of the handle end. put the on off switch in the choke position all the way down, connect rod to throttle on carburetor then slip it into the hole in the trigger. replace operator presence lever making sure the spring is in the notch on the side of it, while holding it in place reinstall the top cover.

My 031 stihl chainsaw trigger is stuck in a full open postion, is it a spring or what

Expose the carburetor and try pulling lightly on the throttle cable--if it won't pull, the trigger assembly is probably full of sawdust. In that case, remove the handle cover over the trigger (record the position of all parts before trying to take anything apart to clean). You should be able to see any blockage, clean it, and re-assemble it correctly. Check the trigger operation at the carburetor to make sure that it is traveling fully from idle to full speed. Hope this helps!

My Stihl 210 saw will not shut off . After I flip the lever to the up position it just keeps idling. Have to switch it up and down numerous times for it to finally stop.

Pull the trigger, set the thumb-lever to full choke, and remove the air filter cover. Observe the flat brass spring behind that cover (on the left side of the unit). It should be ABOVE the shaft that rotates when the thumb-lever is moved up or down. Also notice the black wire with a round brass terminal on the end. That is the "stop-circuit" wire and should be inserted into the notch atop the rotating shaft, directly UNDER the flat brass spring.

If assembled correctly, the terminal end of the black wire will rotate when the thumb lever is moved upward and it will slide UNDER the flat brass spring to kill the engine by grounding it out. If the flat brass spring is located UNDER the shaft, it will not contact the wire's terminal. To avoid this in the future, always pull the throttle trigger BEFORE moving the thumb lever to choke position. If the thumb lever is pressed downward without pulling the throttle trigger first this issue will happen again.
Feel free to comment if this does not resolve your issue.

Hope this helps,
Dolf-
