Satellite A355D-S6889 LCD screen cracked 3 times

My son bought his computer at Best Buy on Dec. 29, 2008 and the screen has gone bad 3 times. The extended warrany he purchased replaced only replaces the screen 2 times and after that the service plan is "fulfilled" and won't fix anything on the computer again.

I do not believe he did anything to cause this. This is his third laptop and this has never happened before. Has anyone experienced similar problems with this model

  • palon Jul 28, 2009

well he has had 3 other toshiba satellite laptops and has had no problems whatsoever with the lcd on any of them, one of the times he only had it back for 4 days before it did the exact same thing, he said he was treating it very delicatly after the first replacement just in case thats what it was, but it went bad again anyways, it seems as though there is a definite defect of some sort

A Couple of questions that should be asked; How does he carry/grab it to put it into a carry bag? How does he maneuver it to put into a desk or table? Is it on a cooling platform or constantly on his lap? Lastly - have you contacted the store/regional manager of Best Buy about this problem. Toshiba generally is a very good brand and does not have consistently re-occurring problems like what you've described, so let's see if we can figure out what's causing it. Look forward to hearing from you. Kevin

I would suggest you get the main board checked. I can understand if replacing the screen thrice hasn't resolved the issue then either the cables / the main board must be the issue.

I NEED A USERS MANUAL FOR A TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELLITE A355D-56889

You misread the model. It is a toshiba A355D s6889 S, not a 5. What is your specific problem?

My 5 year old Dell Inspiron 710m screen is cracked. My son hit it with a remote and it has black fuzzy stuff throughout it that is spreading. What can I do?

So sorry about the cracked screen. But the solution to cracked screens is replacement.
But pending the time it can be replaced, if you have a desktop monitor, you can connect it to it.
If not, a flat screen TV could do the job of display, using the monitor display cable.

Hope that helped?
Success.

My Satellite A355D-S6889 does not recognize the AC adaptor. It is only 6 monthes old laptop and adaptor. It sits in one spot most of the time so I wouldn't think any dammage would have happened to it....

Try to update the BIOS by checking the manufacturer's website for any BIOS update.
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2201148&rpn=PSALEU&modelFilter=A355D-S6889&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

Choose the OS you are using and check if there are any BIOS updates recently.

else try to press F2 as soon as you turn on the laptop and enter into the BIOS set up.
There's an option to restore defaults. Once this is done Save changes and the system boots.

Restart the system and the AC adapter will be detected.

Remove Bezel on Toshiba A355D-S6889

Ok, if you have never replaced a laptop screen before, you might not want to do this one first. It appears that the screws on the face of the screen have to come off first. They are under the rubber footies. After screws are out, tape them to a piece of paper, and label what they were for. Do this for all screws you remove, After screws are out, you will open the screen as far as it will go without forcing it. Using a plastic card, or similar PLASTIC tool, slide into the crack around the perimeter of the screen facia. You will hear "pops" as the snap clips are opened. The lower case of the laptop may also need to be removed. This repair is best left to someone with experience, so be careful to remember what screws go where. This is very important as a long screw in the wrong place will destroy your machine. Check out this page that sells parts for this machine:
http://www.laptoprepairparts.com/html/LRsearchmodelresults.asp?brand=toshiba&model=a355d-&txt=Satellite A355D series (A355D-S6881, A355D-S68811, A355D-S6885, A355D-S6887, A355D-S6889, A355D-S6921, A355D-S6922, A355D-S69221, A355D-S6930, A355D-S69301)

you will need to copy and paste since the website uses spaces, and the models were truncated. Without seeing the actual device in person, it would be difficult to walk you through it. Just remember how you took it apart, tape screws to paper with descriptions on where they went, protect against static, dust, water, and always use plastic tools to avoid scratches.

AKAI 48 in. LCD HDTV with bad signal board

Option 1
The web site shopjimmy.com has tons of parts for your TV.
I looked through it and they don't have a signal board right now.
It's the best place I know to find the parts you need.
Sooner or later, they should acquire one.

Option 2
Fix the signal board.
Try to find a SERVICE MANUAL for your TV on the web. This manual will have parts list, schematics, and test points for circuit boards for your TV.
A electronic tech should have no trouble fixing it.

Good Luck

Sharp aquos lc - 42d43u lcd inside cracked

Normally warranty does not cover this kind of physical damage to your lcd screen. First check with your vendor to confirm. To replace the lcd panel is very expensive, may cost you as much as to buy a new one.
