I have a SanDisk 1GB memory card and it takes photos off of my cell phone. But doesn't register on my computer. My computer doesn't even read it at all. And I really want music and pictures on my phone.

take the card to asda and ask if you plug it into there memory reader where they print photos to see if it opens.if it does it is your reader at fault.
Believe it or not, a lot of the older phones (an even the newer phones) will not support the 8GB memory card. Most of the phones on the market that support 8GB cards are the smart phones and PDA's. There are a few standard phones that support it but not many. Unfortunately, the LG 550 is not one of them. :o/ You may need to take it back and exchange it for a smaller one. ~*~ Your Rating is Greatly Appreciated *~*
Try inserting the card into the computer. Go to start , then my computer, right click on the drive that has the mini sd card. select format. this will restore the disk, emptying it and bring it back to new condition.
