SOURCE: we have a 14 year old Gallery model side by side,
Hi and yes. Being that it is 14 years of age things do tend to stop working, but have seen them run much longer. If you are willing and able I can give you some things to check to see if they are doing what they were made to do. Some things you will be unable to check as special equip. must be used to check internal pressures and so on. If you can, try and locate the source of this noise. You can start by setting the temperature controls to there coldest settings. Check to see if the evaporator fan in the freezer, to see if it is on. Sometimes there will be a door switch that stops the fan when door is opened, so you may need to hold it in to make sure it is on.If it is working, is this fan the noise you hear? If so, bearings are failing and motor must be replaced. If this is good, you will need to roll the unit out to gain excess behind it.There should be a lower panel that you can remove.Listen for noise here as you do this. After removing it, you will see the compressor, a coil, and a small condenser fan motor as well.Motor should be on as well as compressor. Is the noise coming from either one?? Motor not on will be faulty, warm to hot to the touch. Black pot, the compressor not on and hot and making lots of noise, could be an internal problem.See if there is a sheet of dirt on the front of coil, and is so try and brush it clean. If any of these motors are not up and running quietly, the noise will be coming from one of them I am sure, and you will loose you're cooling. This is about all you can check on you're own. Hopefully, it is one of the small fan motors that can be replaced by you if you feel that you can. They will have to be purchased at a appliance parts house. If you find the noise is from this black pot/compressor, it more than likely will be more to have it replaced then to buy a new or good used unit, as I said it takes special equipment to remove freon, and do this. Try and take the steps I have asked of you, and we can go from there. Try hard to locate the source of noise, fan blade hitting, out of balance ect. and please let me know what you have found. I will wait back for a response. Good Luck and it will go smooth for you.Sincerely,

I'm not sure about some of those appliances but ApplianceArt.com maybe able to help you. They sell stainless panels as well as the Softmetal adhesive stainless that's been on HGTV's "I Want that," "Design on a Dime," and "Real Estate Intervention." And I think some others.
